It was made into a film back in 1956, too. It was on TV a while back but I didn't bother watching it, so dunno how good it is.

I've never gone to a Dramsoc play. I almost went once but then they asked for money:rolleyes: . Is it worth it or are they school nativity standard:p

Saw the 1984 version with John Hurt in it and thought it was very good. I really like the book too, so I might head along to this. Any idea when it's on?

Was always much more of an Animal Farm man...

    When and where, folks?

I've seen a number of DramSoc productions and I have to say that they've always wowed me. The standard is very good, and I'd be surprised if they let it slip for a play as big as 1984. I would definitely go if I wasn't so sure most of the DramSoc crew despised me in a manner that can only lead to bloodshed.

What can I say? I didn't mean what I said.

Screw it, go anyway. They won't refuse the money.

Daithi adapted it, so I'd be surprised if it was anything less than great. Plus the cast are all pretty seasoned. It's on every evening this week, at 7 tonight, tomorrow and Thursday, and at 6 on Friday to facilitate the D.A.s.

At the end of the day, it's worth €2.50 to go and make up your mind as to whether you ever want to go back again or not.

Maybe I can sneak in and then decide if its worth paying for.:D

    Who gets any money made?

    Who gets any money made?

All the money goes back into the Dramsoc fund for sets and posters and props and costumes and the like.

if you go in without payin they'll hunt you down...

seriously tho' they do a great job so pay up! i think i'll head along this evening... anyone else going?

I can't go until friday, but I'm definitely going. They run a tight ship financially, the moeny raised goes into making the sets and buying new equipment so that the society can keep putting shows on to the best of their abilities, which is nothing to be sneezed at.

I just heard a bad review of the play. Apparently the main actor was wooden at best.

Go and make your own mind up, for feck sake.

Why waste 2.50 on it? If people say its crap why would I go?

One person said it was crap Stephen. If one person told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it?

I saw the play. I won't ruin it for people by giving a review.

review away! I'd prefer to know before I risk wasting two hours of my precious life going to see it:eek:

Well I'd prefer to be able to see the play without having it tainted by other people's opinion first.

I thought it was quite good actually. They didn't really chop that much out of the book. An excellent piece of work.

Thats why I was holding off. I hate if people say something and then you're watching out for it the whole time.

No...but strangely enough I was given the complete audio book of it last night. Why just listen to music on your ipod? :)

    Coincidence?
