Gearbox Issues

Started to notice the lovely sound of severe gearbox wear over the past few days. Went to check the gearbox oil and the nut I removed had a full head of hair (steel filling).

Anyway, do anyone know where one could get a cheap replacement (low - average milage) ?

    Thanks

Might be a question for EOB @ Octane.ie, he's a bit of a Peaugot nut.

Fuzz on the magnet is one thing, shards and bits another, Do you have chips or fine shavings?.

1999? a bit early for a failure... any oil in the box?.

That aside, you have 3 choices, recycled from a crash victim, rebuild it yourself, but a OEM rebuilt or new.
Have you considered re-building it yourself. most likely a bearing, which is easy to replace.
If gears... and yours has sufficient oil then all the victims out there have similar problems and thus not worth the effort. Are factory rebuilt boxes an opption.
