We formed a band about 4 months ago, have 10 really good songs and two giigs lined up in City Centre at the end of the month but would like ot approach other venues, also if anyone knows where I could get info on any original bands competitions I would be greatful.

If you can get the number for a promoter called Paddy Fogarty (sorry, don't have it myself), he books gigs in the Vaults,Slattery's and the Village, aswell as some of the places Package mentioned. And he's a damn good guy too.

Generally, if you're up for it, you can just get a hold of the venues booking agent, give them a call and book a night for yourself and organise everything yourself.. However by your post i'd recommend not doing that for a while, as you're a little out of your depth at the minute..

The two gigs at the end of the month is a good start, get chatting to the other bands playing, get some numbers for people.. There's a guy called Trev Radiator who organises gigs in the Voodoo Lounge on sundays, he'd give ya a gig no problem, if you're any good AND you can pull a crowd, you'll get a gig on a fri or sat in some where like Eamonn Dorans (wow:rolleyes:)

Basically, get your name out there, it's a great feeling when bands actually ask YOU to play their gig, it means you're getting somewhere at least!

If you don't have any tracks recorded, make that a first priority, send them out to promoters and other bands. If people can here what you're like then they'll be more inclined to give you a gig based on the tracks. Get yourselves an account on www.myspace.com, add your tracks, add anyone from Ireland you can find, it's a great place for ''networking''. Get yourselves a CPU account - www.cpu.ie - is another great place to get your tracks heard...

Basically, it's very easy to get gigs, you just gotta know where to look, when you get a few under your belt, it's plain sailing..

    www.gigsmartireland.com
    www.blast.ie

they are good places to start...

When the time comes, you can book and run your own gigs..
