Do ntl provide any tool to enable users to track their broadband usage? What are the caps and what do they do if you exceed them?

    No tool.

    Caps here: http://www.ntl.ie/athome/internet_cable.html

They rarely do anything if you go over the cap.

In the past they have only sent letters to people who go WAY over the cap on a consistent basis. The letter simply asks you to decrease your usage for the benefit of all the other users in your area. THe letters only seem to be sent if you are actually effecting the service of your neighbours, so it is fairly rare.

To summarise, NTL have one of the fairest cap policies in Ireland and are very easy going about it, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I've been looking for one as well. Would be very handy. Don't do much d/l (except from iTunes). Let me know if you come across one.:)

Well if you only use one computer and windows then you can use http://www.dumeter.com/ which is an application that allows you to measure what you are downloading.

But if you don't download much (only use itunes) I really wouldn't worry about it, your not going to come anywhere near the limits.
