8 tables of 8 started, 5000 chips with 25 minute blinds made for a good stt. Spent the first hour or so after arriving looking for the pub players alledgedly playing but couldnt find any so myself Shortstack and ocallagh settled down to a game of guts waiting for the tournament to start.

I ended up on a table with Chris Green to my left Christy to my right and Nick a good player formerly based in England two to my left, the rest of the players were "pub" players. I did my best to get knocked out half an hour in doubling Chris up when my TT ran into a well disguised QQ, managed to treble up with TT on an AcTc9s flop getting called by 7c4c and Ac8s eventually Chris knocked me out when it got to heads up.

The final table consisted of Norman Walsh, Christy Smith, Eddie the eagle, Chris Green, Steven Dunphy, Mark Magee and 2 others.
A deal was done to make the prize structure less top heavy and Norman stormed home taking 6k knocking out practically every player on the final table. Mark Magee was second, not sure of the other placings.

norman qualified from my table. i was CL for most of it after an early double up with 44. Flop AA4 - AQ called my all-in on the turn.. I was very comfortable at my table. My raises were getting respect, and I was very healthy in chips. Snowy caught up with me by level 5 and we both had 11k from our starting 5k. last hand b4 break i get AA. Snowy limps in mid position. I raise to 900, he calls. Flop Qc9h5h. Snowy announces all-in for 10k I know I'm currently ahead as he'd never play a set this way. I call knowing I have a few cards to avoid. He turns over KhQh and he is favourite. I was happy enough with the call. Only one winner from each table and if I took that 23k pot I'd have fancied my chances. I have no idea how Norman came back from 4k to beat Snowy!! He liped with 45o and called an all in for 2500!! he also protected his BB with J2 when his opponent was commited for a 5k pot.. (blinds 150-300).. He played some hands extremely well though. He took a large pot down with Ace high and another one with KQ on a K high flop. He got Sowy to fold AK!

Up and down for me. I was chip leader for most of the time at my first table gaining half the chips twice before we were down to 4. Some how I managed to lose them for a second time before getting heads up with Mark McGhee. We played heads up for over an hour after I doubled up to give us equal stacks early on. There were loads of exciting all ins as we had done a decent deal, I was ahead 3 times out of four but each time Mark hit the flop to take the lead, twice I runner runnered split pots but the last time my 66 found no miracles as a King on the flop and a Queen on the river gave Mark two pair.

Glad he came second, I heard the name but didn't know who he was and he was great fun to play with but a little too lucky for my liking  . At least I didn't lose to a girl or a bus driver. :)

The chip colours/values confused the hell out of me too at the start. I guess I play the same colours so often that I expect those to be used as such. (I am used to: white ¼ / blue 1 / red 5 / green 25 / black 100 and they were: white 25 / red 100 / blue 500 / green 1,000 / black 5,000). After an hour or so it was fine though, as everyone gotten used to it. Other minor things were the absense of lines on the tables and the cards were a bit slippery.

Having said that, the tournament was great. The blind structure was excellent and the overall playing skills were very good. There was a friendly atmosphere and the fingerfood at the break was awesome. It must be said that the TD, Nick, did a fantastic job!

It was also fun to see Joe perform in front of a camera. His intro had to be re-taken 'a few' times and the "I went all-in, where is the camera?" when the camera crew was gone was funny. Most of the heads-up all-in situations were filmed. The last table took forever because it had over 20 all-ins heads-up. Unfortunately I needed to catch the last train so couldn't stick to see the final.

This event really needs sponsoring though as no-one working there, except maybe the camera crew, actually got paid beyond expenses.
