It's always a good idea to have your music backed up anyway just in case... but no, updating your firmware does not delete any music files.

You could try loading the MTP ( plays4sure) firmware from the Creative Labs website

    http://ie.europe.creative.com/

Bear in mind that this firmware is irreversible. When you install the MTP firmware, you will need to install some plugins for the Creative software from the site aswell, but it's worth a shot. Good luck.

How about you stop being an ass, what we need is a bit of help not smart answers.

I was kidding. Sorry you can't take a joke. Let's see how you can take a weeks ban for personal abuse. Cheers.

Steeob, the only thing I can suggest is bringing it back to the store you bought it from. They should send it away to Creative, who will probably send you back a free replacement unit - if your one is still under warranty. If it isn't still under warranty, then this will cost you, unfortunately.

The replacement unit will, of course, be blank, apart from whatever demo music Creative pre-install. Looks like you're going to lose your tunes, I'm afraid.

(Oh, or on a re-read of a post above, you could install the MTP firmware as suggested. You'll lose your music, yes, but I think that's fairly inevitable at this stage)

    Changed my mind. Ban lifted.
