MP3 Players - which ones are good?

Hi guys. Which ones do you like? Anyone used
    the Sony MP3 walkman yet?

I have a 40GB iPod. It works pretty well but is far
from perfect. Here are some gripes:

The battery is quite iffy after 6 months use.
The USB support crashes windows if used as a HD.
The supplied earphones broke in record time :-(
There should be more buttons - it is overly simplified IMO.

Can any MP3 players use the filenames rather than the
ID3 tags? I hate having to keep these tags up to date - it
is the bane of my life! :-)

What player do you have and would you recommend it?

when you rip a CD, most programs get the id3 tags for you.

anyway, i have a zen sleek 20gig. great machine, use it all the time. froze up on me twice (since last november), but there's a quick and easy fix (pressing 2 buttons) which resolves everything without any loss of data.

sadly i'm now thinking of selling it and getting the zen vision:m.

    iAudio X5L.

Failing that, an iRiver H340 (or H140 if you don't need video/colour displays).

From the sound of your post it seems you would love the iAudio X5!

The x5 is about the best music player available at the moment, since the rio karma is no longer in production. however I found the firmware horrible to use, not intuitive at all.

I ended up buying an archos xs202s. Its really small, has 17hr battery life and simple firmware. Plays music, and does a pretty good job of it.

Peats on Parnell Square. You should def get the longplay version. The battery life is far better than any other player I have seen.

i river is fantastic - v easy to use and much better than Ipod as you dont need itunes - just download for a dolllar an album from www.allofmp3.com and drag and drop them on or use audiograbber

I got the new 20 gig sony for christmas. It was my first mp3 player so i can't compare it to anything else but i'll give my views on it. The sound quality is great and it nice and compact. The menus are easy to navigate around and the search option is great. There are other gimicky features on it aswell such as top 100 and play history which i doubt i'll use much, but the intelligent shuffle is pretty cool. This allows to shuffle from a particular year etc.

However, I do have certain problems with it. Namely the Connect Player "software" is an absolute nightmare, which means i had alot of trouble getting the extra features to work. I was used to SonicStage before I got this player and never had many problems with it but the new software is absolute rubbish. The second problem i have with it is that now i've got alot of music on the player navigating around through the menus is a little slow which is a minor issue but annoying nonetheless.

Overall i'd give it 7/10. I expected better because it has been sony's third attempt at an mp3 player. Hope this helps!!

Edit: Forgot to mention that the battery life is great (about 30 hours!)
