My first gig was last summer.
19th of June - Ardgillan Castle.

REM supported by Moby, the Zutons, and the Devlins.

REM were fantastic, Ardgillan is a great venue, and it was one of the nicest days of the whole summer. Everyone was lying down on the grass, just relaxing, waiting for the music.

So that was the first one, went to 3 that week! Kinda hooked now!

Vibe For Phile - Thin Lizzy - Point Theatre I think 1996. I was only 14 and I went with my dad how cool was that. Good concert considering I only knew the one song.

Tenacious D In the Ambassador summer 02. Great show.

Embarrisingly enough it was Bryan Adams in the point back in 96. I was volunteering for a charity and working their stall in there. The first one I went to and paid for was the Tripp to Tipp which I pretty much went to for the Prodigy. I recently found my ticket ... 33punts for prodigy, manics, kula shaker, foos, reef, and the cardigans. 1997. :-( Last time prodigy played it was about the same price for just them.

RHCP and Pixies in Phoenix Park. After that gig I loved the Pixies more than ever and disliked RHCP.

    U2, supported by Ash
    Lansdowne Rd, August 1997
    PopMart Tour

Ash were pathetic, really made U2 look much better than they really were/are.

But it was a great gig nevertheless...

RHCP in Lansdowne, June (?) 2002. Support from New Order at their worst, The Walls and....Red Lemon? Thought the gig was great at the time cos I had nothing to compare it to but it really was a bit ****. If I remember correctly, the sound was bollocks and there wasn't that much of an atmosphere the gig was over before it was even dark.

AC/DC - RDS Simmonscourt, October 23rd, 1982 (the For Those About To Rock Tour, complete with cannon!). Support by Y&T.

Now that was a hell of a first gig!

I think I lose this one: All Saints in the Point in 1998. Quickly made up for it by going to see Alanis Moirsette a few weeks later though :)

The Offspring in 2004, point deot. Excellent gig, changed me from a casual 2 album fan, to making sure i had all their albums.

So far ive seen greenday twice, offspring once, rchp/pixies

    Id rank the bands
    #1 Greenday - ambassidor show
    #2 offspring - point
#3 Pixies - phoenix park (surprised me as i had heard none of their music)
#4 greenday - point show, not a patch on ambassidor
#5 chillis - very average tbh

Sunstroke in the RDS in 1995 - Soundgarden, White Zombie and other loud bands that I'd have zero interest in now.

A festival called Sunstroke held indoors - only in Ireland

My very first concert experience was one day after my 16th birthday: Udo Lindenberg with special guest Gianna Nannini on March 14th 1983 in Offenbach/Germany and this is where I got infected with the concert-go virus.

Ash + Muse at that festival thing in the showgrounds (Cork) in 2001.

Very good. Muse base line made me feel sick. Ash were on form and i went a little bit mad.
