How does CoD2 compare to CoD1 online?

I need a new FPS fix. I'm an FPS man but am currently not enjoying any.

I absolutely loved COD1 online (and singleplayer). It had it bad points sure but something about it just made it click. I heard that the expansion pack kinda ruined it so I steered clear - still enjoying the original.

I placed my faith in F.E.A.R. and EA's Battlefield2 but (despite both showing loads of potential) I just don't get any enjoyment out of them. I used to get sucked into COD games but just can't connect with BF2 (depending on your team, squad orders are given in a foreign language!). Also, BF2 is still being patched into something usefull - but when they fix it, they'll introduce maps that you must pay for and insert them into server map cycles!! Also, FEAR online just seems bland.

How does CoD2 shape up - especially compared to COD1?

CoD2 is great it requires 256-512MBs of RAM but its well worth it the graphics are much better. however you can carry 2 guns and only 2 guns whiych means instead of M1,thompson,M1911,M2 frag it would be more like M1,Shotgun,smoke grande, frag grenade

you will need a very good graphics card to run Cod 2 in dx9 online. i get about 5 fps in dx9 and 75 fps and above in dx7. i'm running a Leadtek 6800 LE with an AMD 64 3500 on an ASRock board with 2 gigs of ram and a WD Raptor 36 so you can see its a very graphics intensive game. i think its every bit as good as Cod 1 if not better.

    Holy crap! I've a 3500+ and a 6800GT. Didn't think there was anything it couldn't comfortably run.

    I'll give COD2 a shot, cheers.

In my opinion, CoD2 is the perfect replacement for CoD1. It is "the same but better"! If you loved CoD1 you will love CoD2! UO was a complete mistake in my opinion... Thank God CoD2 was based on CoD1 and not on that UO piece of cr@p!

I think you should have WAY better fps rates with that rig! I now have a Prescott P4 3.2GHz, 1Gb of RAM and a 6800GS and I have 125fps (constant) in DirectX 7 and about 40~50fps in DirectX 9! Did you install the 1.01 patch? It did wonders for my fps rate!
