itunes error when i open application

I downloaded apple itunes without any problems. when i click on it to open up I get that microsoft error asking to send it to microsoft. tried reinstalling it but still the same error. any ideas how to fix this. using XP

it just says itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. then its just has the sent or dont sent to microsoft.

just opened something else on the error report. error signature appname: itunes.exe appver.6.0.4.2 nodname: unknown modver: 0.0.0.0 offset: 10001040

Did you have a previous version installed ?

Also is the system clean of any spyware etc.

What you could try is uninstall iTunes and you'll need show hidden files and folders enabled (I think for this) then delete the Apple folder in your documents and settings folder this should cause on the next re-install of iTunes to start fresh.

Apple have some articles worth looking over on their support site for troubleshooting iTunes not installing as well.
