I'm wondering does anyone have a map which shows the now defunct railway line between Ballingrane and Tralee? Anything at all, I'd just like to see where the route went.

Lol I love seeing just how well connected UK towns are, whereas over here theres only one or two old lines floating about, some of which dont even exist anymore :D

Most Irish maps less than seventy years old are within copyright. No more than an A4 section may be copied from these. Please ask staff for details.

TCD library should have old maps too.

I've a railway book about steam here but only a map of ireland A5 in size.

Afraid not. It has the section from Limerick-Ballingrane-Foynes (which still exists) but not the Ballingrane-Tralee section which was dismantled in the late 1980s.

    You've 2 options.

Johnsons' railway gazzetter , which details every line ever built in Ireland or an OS sheet map of the region, not sure which number it is, as it will feature the old railway alignment.

Or PM me with contact details and I'll gladly send you a route map and associated details.

Easons on O'Connell St have an excellent selection of books on railways in Ireland.

There's books dedicated to historic lines such as Donegal and West Clare.
    I'm not sure about Kerry
