xp pro settings?

    i got a pc here . its on an account of the person who used to own this.
    i looked through the c drive and found some programs installed.
    but when i tried to load them , it wont let me . asks me to go to the admin mode to change...etc.
    but when i go to control panel, theres only the one user accound there?
    how do i get to the admin mode .? cheers

    Login as Administrator. If you have the login screen with a single user's name, boot in safe mode - that'll allow you to log in as administrator. When there, simply add that other user to the Administrators group, so you shouldn't have to do this again.

    so this account named mary ..
    when i tried to install a game .
    it said i didnt have the user privaladges ?
    HOW DO I CHANGE THIS IN THE ACCOUNT?

    By not typing sentences in all caps. Thats very annoying.

    Don't log in as Mary, log in as Administrator. All Windows machines have an administrator account. Then make Mary an administrator in the Control Panel (God, Vista had better deliver on its security settings...), log out, log in as Mary, and try to install the game again.

    sorry bout caps man..
    where exactly do i make her the admin in the control pannel /users/ cheers

    Control Panel > User Accounts > Click on the user name > Change my account type > Administrator
