Just wondering how many here shoot in either format. What are peoples opinion on shooting in RAW?

Thinking of shooing in RAW as I would like to experiement with it and I'm not limited by storage space.

Do you shoot in RAW or JPEG? 36 votes

I shoot JPG for the plain fact, it's easy and saves time. I don't really use RAW to it's full extent,. I should use it now and then but shur I'm lazy!

medium fine > JPG for me.

I'm shooting in RAW, image processing will take a bit of time, but the end result will be better. It's great to be able to change the white-balance after shooting the image. I have a 2 GB and 512 MB CF card so am not too limited by storage capacity. Although I will probably buy a portable storage device such as this one.

RAW is obviously going to be better. It basically takes in all the information the camera captures, without processing it, so it's up to you to adjust balances etc. In fairness, it's not as user friendly but it produces better results.

I think you should have "Mostly RAW" and "Mostly Jpeg". I shoot about 50-50.

about 20 - 80 for me. Normally shoot jpeg because generally I can get the exposure right in the camera and space is sometimes an issue. RAW for important shots & events that I may not get the chance to re-shoot.

Very similar to rymus, I normally stick it on Raw+JPG if its an important shot or if its a tricky landscape. but mainly I shoot jpeg cus I dont have the time to mess around after.

Both at the same time, RAW+Basic JPEG. JPEG to review, RAW for processing the keepers.

I shoot mostly RAW plus smallest JPEG (in one shot on the 20d) when on the road ... this way I have nice small ready developed photos to load into my travel blog from internet Cafe's (which in the more remote connections can have very slow connection) and RAW's for development of the best shots once I get home ...

At home I shoot about 60% RAW ...

I shoot about 90% jpeg, but raw for studio shots/art presentations where I'm going straight over to my computer to load them up.
