I had a load o old pcs lying around so i went to put a crappy P3 system together. After many a problem i ended up having to take the P3 and put it in another motherboard. i presume this is ok? Anyway throughout the whole process and both motherboards i cannot get a monitor working. Have tried 3 graphics cards and the fans on them are spinning but am getting no picture? the monitor recognises that its connected i think though. What have i left out of the system(its very bare) that caused this?

It might help to mention some details - brands

eg: DELL Dimension PIII motherboards and PSU's were crosswired because they came out just before the ATX pinout was standardised. You can't mix and match with non dell PSU's / MB's.

Also some PIII's were very snotty about using 100MHz ram, while others would happily run with 133MHz and others needed special ram - and that's just the problems that were intel chipset related.

    PS. It's spelt help

i fixed it just before you posted. I actually think all the hardware i am using is from the same machine. I moved cases but sure thats no prob. The p3 is in a diff motherboard alright but the cd drive and hard drive seems to be running?
