Problems with video capture.

    Hi,
What I want to do is record home movies onto my hard drive, then record em onto DVD.

So, I bought Pinnacle Studio 10 Video Capture Card. For those of you in the know, yeh yeh, it's supposed to be real unstable, but I downloaded a 79mb patch last night which improves things apparently......hopefully :-).

Ok, there's no S-video socket at the back of my VHS video player so I bought one of these from ebay.

I connected the Video card to it via the S-Video cable but the video comes out black and white on the computer.

There's an S-video socket on the back of my Sky box so I thought I'd give it a try and voila....colour. But that's from the telly, not the video. I don't seem to be able to play the video through the Sky box and into the computer.

So my purchase from ebay seems to be the reason why it's all black and white on my computer. Any ideas why it's doing that? Do they all do that or is this adapter faulty?

Is there a way to use the Sky box to play video through it and onto my computer?? I have my video player connected up to the Sky box via the Scart cable and the S-video cable running from the back of the Sky box to the Video capture card but all it plays is TV programs.

    Thanks.

From my limited knowledge, I think this is some sort of anti-piracy protection feature. Macrovision, or something, I think its called.

As for the adapter, I used it myself, when playing stuff from my PC to my TV. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/the_syco/TV_Out.jpg
