New to me also; and on the money if you ask me.

Question: If skangers/chavs dress as they do to avoid conformity with wearers of jeans/suits/whatever (and most of the semi coherent ones actually do ascribe to this idea) then why do they all look the fookin same?

Also, the term "working class" has been bandied about, not just here, but everywhere to describe these idiots. This is a misnomer. The working man or woman, who generally puts in a hard day for a low wage, and may happen to live in a council house (or be purchasing one), has nothing in common with these feckless assholes. I was listening to the Mayor of Dublin on the radio tonight, asked to comment on the possiblity of trouble over Paddy's day, or if Love Ulster hit the N1 in their hired coaches for another run, she opined that she would expect people to behave responsibly, and parents to control their children. For a lady from a "working class" area (Inchicore, she said), she badly needs a reality check IMHO.

Well said!! I agree, like I said in my OP I found a lot of funny bits in that link but there are a lot of decent hard-working law abiding citizens who happen to live in council estates...there are still a lot of scangers though too....

I know...its a tad hypocritical alright! I know a girl from Galway and she was convinced that just because Im from Dublin then I must be a scanger/druggie/general bowsie! She also thought that Dublin was one big housing estate. Where I live in North County Dublin has 2 beaches, a golf course etc...

Because I cant get a pint of guinness for €3.30 on a saturday night in Dublin!, for that reason among many others I stay a jackeen in the country.

i dont have a problem with where people live. just highlighting that some people from dublin do whine about living in the "country" and vice versa

Course you're gonna have those Dubliners who think "were great and everyone else is a bogger" and you'll have ppl from the country who think that all Dubliners think like that which forms a ridiculous circle of cheap digs and stupid taunts!
