Strange Com+ Event System Error

    Hi folks,

Over the last few days I noticed the odd file I downloaded from the net was corrupted, images have downloaded and garbled and exe's corrupted when trying to execute.

Now, so far I wrote it off as a problem with the modem and hunted down new drivers. But today whilst using alot of bandwidth for Bit Torrent the machine crashed every 10-15 minutes.

In the event viewer the following error can be seen:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: EventSystem
    Event Category: (50)
    Event ID: 4609
    Date: <Date>
    Time: <Time>
    User: N/A
    Computer: Server
Description: The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 80070005 from line xx of d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

Now i'm reading alot of crap about this on the net, alot of conflicting viewpoints, none seem to clarify the issue. It appears to be an NTFS permissions issue according to MS and according to others it's some sort of trojan however the machine turns up clean.

So... thought i'd see if anyone has come across this problem recently and if they did how did they resolve it?

    Cheers
