After reading the lads posting about sticking it in with 12 or more outs i decide to put the thoery into practice. I figure ive got 15 outs not including the 3 jacks.

Think i was just unlucky that he figured he had as many as me...

im 2-1 dog here according to poker tracker...

I'm sure while these guys were talking about "sticking it in" they didnt mean stick $90 in to win $13.No need for you to do this with a pot this small.Of course if there were raises and reraises flying about then yes as a nice big pot would be built but why invest so much into so little. You're only about 54% to win on flop assuming he has no spades and even if he has top pair on flop and thats assuming all your outs are live!!! So its not as if you're a monster favourite and thus makes little financial sense.

I think you are doomed to drop your stack on this hand in any case as the flush hits the turn.

But Chip is right - the pot is probably too small to bother with, as you will tend to only get called by big hands (like a made straight). You always have outs so its never completely death. Villain just happened to have the one hand that you *really* need to fold.

    C'est la vie.

Do that move with the flopped straight next time.

yeah i knew the pot was too small but i was expecting him to fold and was gonna show my hand for my table image.

If i didnt play it this way wot way should I play it from the flop on and lets assume its a blank on the turn ie 2d?..

With 15 outs you have odds to check/call a pot sized bet and see a river if you want, or you can check/raise all-in on the turn (which usually has more fold equity than the flop).

The board is pretty dangerous, so you should have a lot of fold equity Vs hands like overpairs, or TPTK or two pair even. And you have lots of outs even Vs the nut straight or a set.

Its probably a moot point though, as villain wont bet the turn if it blanks because he is drawing too.

Speaking of 15 outers I was involved in a huge pot online the other day with Qh Th with the flop Kh Jh Tc.I was check raising this flop like there was no tomorrow (and was screaming inside this is it,the royal flush its coming baby!!!!) but after betting 4 ppl out of the pot i could not shake off one guy who instantly called. The pot was $92 on flop on a 50c/$1 NL simply unbelievable :) and after he checked a rag on 4th street to me i bet my remaining $127 and he instantly calls.

Now the ONLY hands (i'm pretty sure) that could call me so quick here is the made str8 either AQ or Q9 and i quickly discarded the latter. The river was a rag and i was itching to know wat he had and at the showdown he turned over....I'm laughing as i type this........

J8spades (they were sooooooted) and so he takes a $300 pot with middle pair

Looking back i had an INCREDIBLE 20 outs and was Massive favourite on flop but alas.

I missed four 15 outer draws in one day!!!!!I wish i sucked at poker so that i could bleed my Bankroll by calling bets like that.

Funny how the better the player you become the more beats you receive...(not this being a beat by any means) but it seems like it shouldnt be that way......gotta love it.

I think it's fine. Overbets are fun. Try not to be up against that hand in future.

Check behind on the turn - he aint folding, and you dont have the best hand (yet)

I was reffering to the call rather than the overbet, I should have been more clear. Its a terrible call I think, most of the time the villian is just drawing to a flush.

But still.. sticking $89 in to win $13? I'm not a cash game player but I dont think you will ever find me doing this.

This reminds of a moment of madness i had, replaying an episode of WPT with Vince Van Patten in my head saying, "Some players just like to push on a flop like that" 3 spades, holding A spades.

I can just imagine your moment of madness, "Hector and fuzzbox would make this move"

You should learn your style of poker and learn adaptations of your style from other players just don't constantly do what you read (especially when you do not interpret the information correctly) on a poker forum, nothing is written in stone when it comes to poker, play how you feel comfortable playing.

Hector and Fuzzbox both play a very advanced style of hold'em.
