    Tool + Deftones FTW!

Metallica play on the 11th. They have it down on their website as part of the download festival.

That and the tickets say "Download Presents...."

I'll be very pissed if Aiken start selling cheaper three day tickets after I've already paid for my gnr and metallica tickets.

It won't be a festival thing really, certainly not in the camping sense of the word.....but it's a weekend of 1 day gigs, which is starting to look much better than anything Aiken have managed up to now, and for that I give them credit......

I'll also be pissed if they start selling cheaper tickets for the three gigs.....

I'd say this year they will see how it all sells and next year they might bring it over as a full festival the way Reading/Leeds works

If Tool play it will be the Saturday I'd say. Seems like they might bring the whole thing over sometime in the next few years. Good idea with whats goin on so far.

so is it definite that they're doing a weekend out of it this year. cos downloadfestival.com would indicate that. but then haven't the metallica tickets gone onsale already? you'd think they'd wait and give people the chance of getting a weekend ticket, unless there doing in the usual arse about way that ireland would and not doing camping or anything like that.
i hope tool come, but the fact that its right bang in the middle of my exams is a balls, i dont mind missing metallica, seen them a few times already. wouldn't mind seeing alice in chains either.

In fairness, if this is anything liek the 'reading festival' that the 2003 Metallica gig was like, then it'd be best not to get our hopes up.

haha, yeah I know. that was bad alright. I don't know how they can even call in 'reading ireland' when reading is the ****ing place where its on in the uk like.in all fairness.
but they still have this up asa three date thing on the website, which is whats intriguing me so much.

I was just actually thinking bout the whole metallica and guns and roses tickets being on sale thing but what came to mind as them being one day ticket deals if ya get me, there could be a 3 day camping ticket then(well i would hope so anyway) If there really is a god/satan/allah/buddah/muhummed or whatever people worship theese days please let it be so

nah, if they intend on extendin it to a three day festival, they've arsed it up by putting the metallica tickets on sale already.they can't not offer people a choice of a weekend ticket aswell, and they'd only be drawing work on themselves, because people would be returning single day tickets for weekend tickets, if that makes sense.
I'd say the site is a **** up and it's only a one day
but fingers crossed we get tool at some point.

I couldn't really see camping being allowed in the RDS.

Dont need camping to be a festival, Look at Hard Working Class Heroes, Bud Rising and the first Electric Picnic

damn it is gonig to be one expensive month if they do make it 3 days. now that AIC are playing sunday I'm going and if Tool play saturday I'll have to hit that too and I bought my Guns tickets last week. And Roger Waters is playing in Cork!!

They have a site up and running though. That's to the next level!

I think Aiken scrapped the Reading Ireland idea after MCD bought a stake in Mean Fiddler, so they looked at other options...

Seems possible now that Tool could be heading the RDS Saturday. There'd need to be some heavy support slots though.

Would be great to see this grow into a proper camping festival next year... but... why sponsorship from England? I'd like to see a new festie we can call our own.

Word is there's no third gig - and if there is one, it'll be easy enough to see as they'll need planning permission for it, all that three large events requiring planning permission jazz....

I asked a moderator on Downloadfestival.co.uk forum and this is what he had to say
Right promotor, right nights, right venue. Looks pretty authentic.

I don't have details, and I've never been to the RDS arena so I don't know what the venue is like but I would suspect that it's a scaled down version of Download. I heard whispers about this last year.

According to the promotors site, the Guns'n'Roses show (on a Friday night) starts at 6pm, and the Metallica show (on the Sunday) starts at 4pm with Korn supporting.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another band or two added to each of those nights, and a show on the Saturday night featuring Tool. Again, I haven't heard anything, thats just a guess.

The only thing I'm really wondering about is what the appearance and subsequent disappearance of Motley Crue means. When they appeared, I thought they were a dead cert for Download Donington as I'd previously heard rumours from reliable sources that they'd be on this year. Maybe they got bumped off the Friday in Dublin cos Axl threw his toys out of his pram - him & Vince Neal aren't really supposed to get on...

Not much more news but still

i think Motley Crue could still play, but I see the point that he makes
