    variance.

    Edit:

    Ah, you've just explained yourself...

    Not variance.

    var·i·ance

    variance

A statistical measure of the variability of measured datum from the average value of the set of data. A high variance, indicating relatively great variability, also indicates that the average is of minimal use in projecting future values for the data. Standard deviation is the square root of variance. Financial analysts use both statistical measures to weigh investment risk. Compare covariance. See also risk.

Most likely you are a losing player overall and got lucky over the weekend. There is a certain element of luck in poker, just like there is in say blackjack. It's results like that that will keep you coming back. When you lose you will feel you got unlucky and when you win you will feel you played better than the other players.

    There are other possibilities.

    other possibilities is one,

for example i made 50 dollars into 1,300 plus in 3 days on party poker and im by far an overall winnier in the fitz.

The problem could be that when you are running well, flops hit you in the face, pairs make sets etc and you don't have to make difficult decisions. therefore even though you are winning you arent necessarily playing well.
Then the cards stop running well, and you've temporarily forgetten how to make decisions, play dodgy situations etc.
During this bad run you have to rediscover your good play.

Its a cycle that I fall into regularly.
'Playing well' leads to 'good results' leads to 'thinking this is easy' leads to 'playing badly' leads to 'bad results'.
    Hope that makes sense.

Its all fixed. Online poker is fixed. When you have a few winning sessions, they make you lose.

    Wait a minute.............

All cash game players blogs i seem to read(for example dpommo and milkybarkid) has similar very good to very bad swings.
I believe they just get a bit to frivilous with their calling because after all theyve just won loads of white meat after a few recent good sessions. If i got a euro for every time i read "If i'd only quit the session when i was ahead".

Conversely how come everybody digs themselves out of a big hole they've dug themselves into?. Because they start playing proper and more patient again because they have to.

If you get a bad beat that finishes you off you aren't employing correct BRM techniques and you can't do anything about it.

If you are employing good BRM techniques then you accept variance is part of the game and reload.

and that's definitely a run of good variance :) congrats

its was actually more to do with the bank and withdraw limits in my account , i suppose that was fault for having it the bank in the first place.

    probably just as well considering

you had a two day losing session, it happens. How does it happen, there are many causes. The cards go against you, your mind is on something else, you've won enough recently and had enough luck that you feel you can play any cards you want and it doesn't matter. You start playing bad cards and bad position because you think your better than anyone else there...and so on and so forth.

A 2 day bad run is not a disaster unless you're playing in the short term, a 6 month losing streak that wipes out your bankroll is a disaster.

    Well that depends...

11-a-side or 5-a-side, competitive or friendly? have you stepped up a level, what about position had that changed?

was it real football or a console game? X-box or PS2, PES5 or FIFA '06...

Football is all luck. I don't know how people don't see that. You should take up a predictable sport such as russian roulette. Variance is not a long term issue in this sport.

You got so bigheaded no one would give you the ball this week.
You got pissed and are still suffering ... walking around like a zombie.
You have an excessively lengthy celebration routine that is still going on.
    You have aged a lot.
You are a now a marked man.
You were on the subs bench this week.
    You forgot your contact lenses.

Same as the Ireland team v Sweden. Dumb luck.

It could be variance, it could be mathematical 'regression to the mean', etc.
Or it could be that you went out on the beer in celebration of your brace of goals, didnt bother turning up for Tuesday training, and went out onto the pitch for the following game with an inflated opinion of your ability. And just to laugh it off and call it 'variance' would be a huge leak in your football career.

i suspect you were playing out f position again.

2 days of losing shouldn't matter in the great big scheme of things anyway.
