I think anyone stupid enough to choose the world cup over not dying form bird flu is probably a moron. We could always hsip those people out to an island somewhere and they can have their own footbal tournament, complete with bird flu!

Yeah they should definately cancel the world cup now. Choose a new venue, not bird fly prone - Germany, somewhere warmer. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, this should warrant a reply of all qualification matches, namely Irelands.

I don't care, Ireland aren't playing. They won't cancel the world cup for two reasons.

A) The avian flu has not mutated or is not going to mutate so that people can directly pass it.

The world cup makes too much money.

What if it does though?

Yes, humans contracting avian flu from close contact with infected poultry is different from humans contracting it from other humans. However, it is foolish to assume that the virus will not mutate further.
