why do random people feel the need to point out the misplacement of threads?
is it not the job of the moderators to move threads which are in the wrong sub forum?
is there not a button you can click to report these threads to the moderators?
is there really a need for wannabe mods to fill threads with crap; crap that actually adds nothing to the topic on hand?
is there really a need to tell someone they are off topic, when telling that person they are off topic is , in all actuality, off topic itself?
is there really a need for someone to be a smartass about someone poosting in the wrong forum, when that person could simply tell the OP that there is a forum for X subject without humiliating them?

i could go on all night.
i'll give it 5 posts before someone either says that this thread belongs elsewhere or a mod bans me for asking some topical questions.
either way, i expect support from all of you who have started threads here in AH and had some ass tell you that your thread doesn't belong in the place for "all things non-work rlated".

That whole "all things non-work related" description is showing its age I think.
Back when boards had very few forums (fora?), I guess it was a convenient dumping grounds for almost anything.
    Have a looky here -> http://web.archive.org/web/20000901021737/www.boards.ie/bulletin/
Just goes to show you how many more categories have been added.
What it's suitable for now though... hmm... that's a good question... I suppose you just have to get a feel for it.
But is the description still accurate?

I agree about people thread-spoiling with needless nit-picky comments though... even the whole "this has been posted before *yawn*" comments (which I've done once or twice myself in the past) do nothing to improve the thread.
is there not a button you can click to report these threads to the moderators?
Don't forget it's also a report-post feature... which I suppose you could use to highlight the pointless smart-arse posts you find so humiliating.
why do random people feel the need to point out the misplacement of threads?
Dunno... maybe frustration at expecting to read one type of thread suited to the board they're reading and finding another kind.
If everyone posted on the wrong forum, boards.ie would be chaos... maybe some people are irritated by the implied lazyness of not thinking about where you're posting your thread before you post it, and feel the need to give out to you over it.
It's hard to say without specific examples, but a good blanket explanation would be "because some people are just prícks".

    I agree with you OP!

I wonder if these people are as pedantic in real life?

it's directed at anyone who fits the description and not one particular person.

Sometimes it's helpful when someone notes that the thread should be in another forum (especially if they give a link) as I may not think of the other forum, and even the op may not have thought of that.

that's a good point, but it only needs to be done once.
