    Hi,
My dad has been offered a chance to go out foreign for a week. He is doing it because of work. Well anyway, he needs to get a passport. How long does it take to get out. We live in Navan if that is any good. Would there be anyway of speeding up the process as he needs it the day before St Patricks Day.
    Thanks in advance.

there's the passport express service, which should have it to you by then, not sure of the exact time, but there definitely is a way. check your local post office, they have leaflets which show your options. you might have to pay maybe €5/6 extra to get the passport express option

    It's an extra 7€.
    Passport express = "10 days" - I've found it's usually much quicker...

If he needs to travel within a week, he can go to the passport office with proof of travel and get it. he'll have to pay extra (think its 25)

And wait around for several hours.

Best option TBH. 10 working days is very close to the travel date.
OP's dad is going to look bad if his company loosees money if he can't travel just because he has no passport and this option is available.

Thanks for your reply. My dad rand the passport office this morning and they said that there would be no chance of getting it before the day he needs it:( . But if he went to the passport office in Balbriggan(I think it is) that they would have it back to him within 3 days:D . All he has to do is prove that he is booked for the flight. That is great. Thanks for all your replys.
