presuming you have some folders shared and turned off windows firewall or other for test purposes

    on computer B:
@ command prompt (Start -> run -> cmd)
    1. Ping computer A - paste result (ping ipaddressOfCompA)
    2. nbtstat -A ipaddressOfcompA - paste results.

    What OS is on each?

WinKey F and search for the other computer (By name).
Make sure both computers are shareing at least one folder.

try setting up a small home network, go into my network places and there should be a link to setup a small home network, make sure u have windows firewall setup to allow the two systems or disable it altogether!
