i spent hours disecting my play working out what i should have done to max winnings and min losing but when it all comes down to it I find that i just dont think when i play poker or i lose my analytic abilties. heres an example.

playing a house game in my mates heads up. i have reversed a 2 to 1 chip lead on my mate in 20 mins. my mate always say 'oh ****' every time he hits a monster. anyway hits a monster says oh ****, i've got top pair and go all in and he calls with the nut flush.
any suggestions on how to cut out such rash plays

    Quadruple the buy in.

edit: it might have helped in this situation to look at your opponant (well, you should always do this, but especially here) before looking at the flop. When people see what looks like a big flop they tend to shut out all other information telling them that they are beat. But if you get the read that you may be beat before you see that you made a hand you will be more inclined to think about it.
You should try to always wait 3 seconds or so before announcing your decision, even if you think you definatly have the best hand, just incase your brain is working on something. It never hurts to wait, but can hurt not to.
