Office will go on for sure, I have a P3 866mhz Laptop with Photoshop on it but the laptop has 512mb of ram. Runs like a charm with the extra ram. Have a look on the boards for sale forums for more?

i'm really not pushed upgrading it, if it works it works, just would like to know before i start out, also could i use an external hd as a scratch disc?

it depends on the kinda stuff you wanna do.. on the new PS most of the more resource hungry filters aren't loaded on initial start up.. they only load upon request.

wow - thats crazy. I find CS2 a hog on a G4 with over a gig or ram.

If you can get your hands on an older version - like PS 5 or 5.5 this would run well.

    FYI - from adobe.com

    System requirements PS CS2

    Intel® Xeon™, Xeon Dual, Intel Centrino™, or Pentium® III or 4 processor
Microsoft® Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 4, or Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or 2
    320MB of RAM (384MB recommended)
    650MB of available hard-disk space
1,024x768 monitor resolution with 16-bit video card
    CD-ROM drive
Internet or phone connection required for product activation

It'll work perfectly fine. It'll be slow, but it will work.

I would opt for the less memory hungry paintshop.
