    Hi all
    Is there any easy way of finding the Satellites? i have a digital compass so is that any good at all?

    Be more explicit.

    You need to calibrate for local magentic north, up to 5 degree error. Steel dish or Gas tank will upset reading.

    You need www.lyngsat.com to know which satellite you want

    SMW link and put in your position -8 = 8W = Limerick
    enter Satellite position and it will tell you elevation and azimuth (east /west) of dish.

    A compass only gives a rough idea as 1 degree or better accuracy is needed. A really big dish needs 0.2 degree pointing accuracy to "see" the satellite.
