photography technique isnt that complicated, most courses teach you enough and you teach yourself the rest. you never stop learning thats for sure.

go along to the club and see for yourself if its for you or not, dont take anyone elses word for it.

I did two of the the courses at dublincameraclub.ie
and tbh I thought they were quite boring. It was a
complete waste of money. I went with a friend and
both of us left it after 4classes.
    What a waste of money!

    Just my 2c

fair enough lads ,theres good and bad in everything.
I don't see any harm in going along to an exhibition ,sometimes you only get what you give.

Dont underestimate the old geezers in these clubs; yeah they wear wooly sweaters and drink lots of tea, but they really know how to take a photo. Just remember, a badly composed, exposed shot taken on a 1DS will look just as crap as the same photo taken on a 10euro disposable. These will teach you how to 'see' the shot and make it that little bit special.
A full list of clubs is on the Irish Photographic Federation website, http://www.irishphoto.ie/
I've another few years before I'd even dare put a photo forward for critque
