  Fair play if you can pull off a Killers tribute band. They only have one album that runs at around 50mins? Also, most people would just generally know Mr.Brightside or Somebody told me....best of luck with it though, I hope you prove me wrong.

Its a matter of opinion, new album is due out, every song on that album is a killer!!!People fed up with the usual covers band, the same songs-Dakota,under the Bridge,Mr Jones etc etc Tributes are the way to go!!!!!!

I have no confidence at all in a musician who can't spell what they play properly, and i don't intend that to be a cheap shot at your spelling at all, but it really does boggle the mind.

Tributes are much harder then original music I have done both with some moderate success with originals too and originals where far easier. Who is to tell you what you are playing is wrong if you wrote it. With a tribute you are not only trying to sound as good as the band where/are live but as good as they where in the studio, a band may have spent a year recording an album and your live tribute show is to sound as good as that. It’s far harder to please a crowd with a tribute.

On topic: A killers tribute will be difficult there credibility is still very fresh and if the 2nd album isn’t much success you could end up wasting time on it. Should pick a band with a bigger back catalogue to keep yourselves interested it will get boring fairly quickly if there are only 30 odd songs to pick from.

Thats exagerrating tributes. Far less skill involved in a tribute band than GOOD original music. Sure anyone can write original songs but good ones...

I can guarantee you people are far more critical of a tribute band then they are of an original band.

What you have said above about any body being able to write songs but good ones. The same can go for Tributes anybody can cover a song but to do it well is difficult. I have been in a regular cover band that was grand I have been in original band that was grand and I am now in a tribute band and I defiantly find it the most challenging.

Plus for money covers are the way to go. I know it sounds like selling out but Most people work jobs they hate clocking up in excess of 35 hours a week and getting less money then one night gigging. I you can play and like playing why not use it to make as much money as possible.

With originals you are not challenging yourself much because you will always only play what you can. In a tribute you can’t run a way from songs that are hard to play because to be a proper tribute you should know most of the back catalogue forcing your self to learn stuff you might not be naturally be able to play.

pal of mine was in a covers band and they were pretty good as well on average the used to pull about €1,500 per gig between the 5 of them for about 4 hours work

    thems not bad apples IMO
