Hello everyone, am looking for some info on a decent club in Kilkenny. I know there is a karate club but I would the form to include Kicking, punching and locks, throws, holds, pressure points more pratical stuff rather than the kata dances. I am not a big fan of the kata forms as I don't think they are much useful.

Any adive on a club in Kilkenny and in fact any advice on a fighting style that includes all this is most appreciated.:)
    Thanks

A guy called Paul Cummins runs a full contact Kickboxing club in town
There is also a Judo club!!

Depends on what your looking for.

Sorry it been a few year since I've been in killenny, so I don't have any contact details.

Someone else here might have more info!

The Judo class is on tonight at the Friary Hall if you are interested. Here is the info:
    Clubname Kilkenny Judo Club
    Style Judo
    Association Irish Judo Association
    Instructor Tony Delaney
    Address 1 Friary Hall
    Address 2 Friary Street, Kilkenny
    Address 3 co. Kilkenny
    Timeslots
    Phone 086-8228431

I believe class is 9:00 [The Irish Judo association has been down for over a month] Classes are every Tuesday and once you get promoted you can take the Friday class.

Paul Cummins runs Kilkenny top Pro. They mostly fight under Full Contact Kickboxing rules. There classes are on Mondays at 8:30 for beg. the others are Wed and Fridays at 8:30. They train out of the Euro Gym on New Street. Here is their info:

    Euro Gym Fitness Centre
New Street Kilkenny Kilkenny T (056)7723666

You can ask for Paul or Diarmid [I probably spelt that wrong] O'Sullivan. They both own Euro Gym.

    Good Luck.

    John

What style of jiu-jitsu do they teach? Japanese or Brazillian? I wouldn't mind checking them out?

John. When its Jiu Jitsu its generally BJJ. For Japanese its spelled JuJutsu or JuJitsu, the former being the correct spelling, as far as Im aware.

    good luck,

    Dave.

Thanks Dave. I thought they were interchangeable and up to the instructors preferance. Where exactly is the cbs primary school btw? I was hoping to contact them and maybe check out a class. I was hoping to try the MMA league eventually [I was hoping to do Aprils but I doubt that will happen :(]

    Thanks again Dave.

Ye this does happen a bit, but the majority of 'traditional' schools use the JuJutsu spelling. As far as I know, 'Jitsu' is a misspelling. The correct spelling is 'Jutsu'...so NinJutsu, JuJutsu, AikiJutsu etc. Though, when it really comes down to it, what does it matter how its spelled. :)

    Dave.

From what I gather there is no correct spelling for jiu-jitsu, jiu-jitsu, ju-jutsu etc.. This japanese guy explained it on a post one day.

Hi guys, if kickboxing is your thing definately check out TopPro as Paul Cummins is a sound guy. As regards the other enquiry, the guys train in Japanese Ju-Jitsu and you could contact Noel McHugh about training. He has an ad in Irish Fighter. Some of his lads train with me in FMA and they're serious MA's but very decent guys.

Do you know how I can contact Noel McHugh about the JuJustu club? I can't seem to find his ad in Irish Fighter. What/Where is FMA?
