    Volkswagen Golf 1.4 2001 - firing on 2 cylinders - anyone had this problem? Have to get it fix and wondering anyone know how much it'll cost me. The head will need to be removed and fixed and needs to be torc-ed etc. Looking for an approx price!

    Firing on 2 cylinders is a symptom of a problem, not a problem itself. Do you know what's wrong with the car that's causing it to fire on 2 cylinders.

    It might be something like a faulty coil pack. Common thing on VWs and other cars.

    Brian is right, the coils on the 1.4 Golf can be troublesome, especially on older generation engine (AXP).They solved this in 02. Shouldn't be too costly, (2-3 hundred) but get a good mechanic to do the work and give it a check over for wear.

    cheers for the replies lads, found out what the problem is, got a good mechanic so he took a look...dont ask me to explain it, not the most up to speed on engines n all that! Gonna be about 1000, (700 parts and 300 labour) thanks again
