Time again for my predictions on the up coming PPV for the USA Vs Canada fights. First off let me tell you how I hate this format of country vs country. What is next? Why not make it racial or religious? Well that is for another day. On to my duties as wanna be swami!

    Rich Franklin Vs. David Loiseau
On paper this one looks great. Franklin and Loiseau should be neck and neck with Rich ahead by a bit. But you have the X factors. First off Rich has a heavy fist and looks for the Ko, David is more prone to being fluid and trying to submit or KO the guy. Rich is a dirty boxer with good striking skills but fairly run of the mill. David is way out of left field with his tactics and Rich has never faced someone like this. I am not going to guess on this one outright. I would say that if David comes with his uniquely his A game he has a 70% chance of getting Rich. But my gut is going with Rich on this one. I would say he is about a 60/40 favorite to win.

Georges St. Pierre Vs. BJ Penn
The prodigy vs Rush. This one is going to be the one to watch. Not just because it is a lead up to something, but because both fighters have something to prove. Rush is trying to prove she should face Matt Hughes again for a belt after a defeat, and Penn is trying to prove he should face Hughes again after he left the belt and beat Hughes. Can Rush beat one of the few men to have made Hughes Tap? I think he can. I am going out on a limb and saying that GSP will TKO or KO Penn. Why? Well when you look at the numbers you will see that GSP is actually better on paper for stats. He has lost one fight and that was to Hughes. He has thrown down with some big wigs and he takes them out by tap or KO . Penn has a great record as well, but he has left more guys loss up to a judge than GSP and even his wins were not entirely one sided recently. Okay, so you have to beat the man to be the man, and Penn has beat the man, but GSP has some speed and youth on his side. Penn has never faced as unorthodox a fighter as GSP as well. I am saying GSP will beat Penn?70/30 chance of that happening. Still close, but GSP to win?quote me on that!

    Nate Marquardt Vs. Joe Doerksen
This one should be interesting as well. We have Nate who is a heck of a fighter. His record in 28 fights he has tangled with some fairly big names. He is a great ground submission fighter and has 11 tap outs. Now big Joe is a fellow Winnipegger who just loves to fight. He has 40 fights. Now he may not look as good with his 8 losses, but when you see the percentages, he is ahead. Joe would drive to the moon for a good scrap. They tend to like fighting growing up on a Manitoba farm. Joe has 25 submissions. This fight should be great. I think we could all watch this as a classic fight that will lean towards ground fighting fairly heavily. Joe is strong and loves to squeeze on guys. I say Joe will take this one. But it should be interesting. Joe has won one fight in the Octagon of the UFC and lost two, so he has experience in the big lights and attention the UFC tents to bring. Nate has one win in the UFC so neither will get cold feet. I say this is going to be one hell of a fight, with Joe eking out a win.

    Mike Swick Vs. Steve Vigneault
This one seems to be a match up made in MMA heaven. Neither guy is ready to challenge for a belt or anything, but you have Mike 뱏uick?swift a TKO and KO striker against Lion heart Steve Vigneualt out of TKO management, another great striker that likes to throw heavy leather even though he is a jitsu guy.

    Yves Edwards Vs. Mark Hominick
Okay, I am not going to comment to much on this one here. But you have a very educated and practiced fighter in Yves Edward that has been in 38 pro fights going against Hominick that has only fought in 13 pro fights. This one is so one sided it is a bit of a joke. I say Yves will maybe break a bit of a sweat in this one and Tap or KO Hominick in the first or second round. It ain뭪 going to be pretty and it ain뭪 going to be entertaining. What was Dana drinking?

    Kenny Florian Vs. Sam Stout
Team Tompkins is known for turning out good all around fighters here in Canada. They do not push striking over grappling and they tend to work there fighters into a great condition. Kenny has been flat, will be flat and is always going to be some geeky grappler with sharp elbows. I have never been floored by Kenny, except for the fact that he can cut the opponents with his sharp elbows. He did not do so well against Sanchez as he could not get an elbow on him. Other than Sanchez he fought and lost to Drew Fickett and beat two guys that could not grapple to begin with. This TUF guy is going to be going up against a guy that can strike and grapple. If Kenny goes in to the fight as if he is a big name, he will be sucking mat very quickly. I say Stout in two rounds. But this one is a good match up as well. What ever Dana is drinking꿬t works once and a while.

    Rob MacDonald Vs. Jason Lambert
Okay, So Team Tompkin is going to take one on the chin in this fight. You have Rob, pulled bicep, MacDonald in one corner, with very little experience, three wins over guys that he SHOULD win over. Three no bodies that did not give him much challenge. Then you have Jason Lambert in the other corner with 24 fights against some big names that have given him an education. He has beat Travis Wuiff on his last venture into MMA and he has been schooled by the likes of Tim Silva, Wesley Correira, and Marco Ruas. Now if you want a one sided fight this seems to be it. All Rob has is his conditioning that team Tompkin is famous for and maybe a good old fashion prayer for help from a guardian angel. Due to the over whelming numbers on paper꿌 go with Jason Lambert on this one. But this also falls into the who cares.

    Tom Murphy Vs. Christophe Midoux
Fresh off a K1 win against Jin Soo Lin, Chirstophe Midoux is stepping into the cage against Tom Murphy꿾ho freaking cares. Look at the paper work on this one. Tom fought once and won by KO against a no body in an equally who cares fight. Then you have Christope who faced guys like Horn and Fulton but has won as many as he lost?I am going way out on a limb here and saying this one will not be shown on the PPV..or if it is that is the fight I am going to go take a pee during?.this not only smacks of who cares, but it also smacks of why bother.

    Diego Sanchez Vs. John Alessio
    14/0/0 vs16/7/0
Shannon Ritchie, Brian Gassaway and Nick Diaz were the only three big names that Diego has faced in his carreer. He has a perfect record of 14 fights under his belt and he has actually gotten better technically in his interm with the UFC. Is he ready for Hughes? Okay, stop your laughing. The UFC is coddling this welp till he makes them no more money. Put him against Penn or GSP next fight and he will crumple up like a used Kleenex. Shannon Ritchie, chris Grennan, and a loss to Pat Militich are all part of Johns pedigree. This fight is very interesting. If you look at it from the right angle it is Diegos fight to loose. He is on top of the UFC food chain, he is 14 and 0 and he should be able to keep on his roll. The UFC would never put him against someone that could take him apart. This is one of the only fights between two Americans on the card and it should be a good one. John will go for a win, but run into the Nightmares Ego and skills to hold him back a bit. I put my money on Diego to win, but it should be fun to watch.

Sanchez is out due to a virus, apparently he's in a pretty bad way, in hospital getting his fluids through an IV and has dropped about 20 pounds since getting sick.

Florian was not cleared the the Athletic Commission due to back issues.
