Hey, this maybe an old topic revisited, but this forum needs a shot in the arm!

Which episode do you feel is the worst/poorest of the Star Wars saga?

I'd say it's Return Of The Jedi by far, I don't care if it's the conclusion to the trilogy and it's part of the sacred original trilogy but to me it felt like George Lucas didn't know how to end the trilogy and just dumped the cast and crew in the middle of a forest with outcast Care Bears (ones who weren't good enough to have an image on their chest!)..

    The Phantom Menace no question.

    For me.

    1. Empire Strikes back
    2. Revenge of the Sith
    3. Return of the Jedi
    4. A new Hope
    5. Attack of the *****
    6. Phanton menace.

Phantom Menace, purely because we waited so long and it was meh!

Forget about how long you were waiting or how old you were when you saw each respective movie because I think that if you were to objectively watch 1-6 back to back today there could be no conclusion other than ep2 is by far the worst of the 6. Whilst it has some great set pieces in it it's just embarrasingly weak in too many aspects. :(

I dunno , I liked the atmosphere in a lot of ep 2 , especially with the cloners
and count dokuu, yes the dialogue was TERRIBLE, but apart from that it wasn´t bad , not like ep1 which was just boring apart from that end battle.

Episode 2 has a fair amount of faults but I don't think anything comes close to Episode 1. Just doesn't entertain me really past the first 5 minutes. Did Lucas not realise how crap and long the podrace sequence was during editing? The film really goes nowhere in particular. I quite like Episode 6 actually.

    Episode 1 wins hands down.

Episode 3 was worse than episode 2 though IMO, the ending was just so unbelievably bad.

yeah , I was looking forward to Vader, and then he is in it for like 5 secs
and says less then 10 words, very dissapointing.
    And that bit "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" embarassing!!!

But apart from that, great flick .

I don't know if it was just me, but I felt it just sounded so wrong when Vader wakes up after the surgery to say "Where is Padmé?", I know he's still Anakin and all but I guess I still, in a weird sort of way, see the Anakin Skywalker of the prequel trilogy and Darth Vader of the original trilogy as two completely different people, so for him to ask about Padmé just sounds odd, that and the fact I wouldn't think of the character Vader caring about anyone let alone his wife...

I agree with you about Jedi. It's almost like a re-hash of AHN and ESB thrown together. The worst thing about it is the wholly original Death Star II battle. ANH had the Death Star, ESB had the Battle for Hoth, surely they could have made the ending of Rotj a little more original. The final battle between Luke and Darth Vader was pretty poor as well, in fact, there is no major redeeming point in Jedi to be honest. The other movies have definative moments that are famous not only within the franchise but in cinema history as well.

With the newer movies I'd have to say Episode II, although I did enjoy it and certainly wouldn't class it as a bad movie. More like worst of a good lot.

it has to be Phantom Menace as when ever a friend of mine makes a mistake or does something silly to this day that person is counted as making a "phantom menace".Even the cartoons are better than it ,even the Ewoks shows and Droids!! Thats saying something!

ROTJ?? how could ye? I thought it was a great ending, tied up all ends. I loved the whole Luke/Vader aspect of the film. It really explored the relationship between the two and after ESB, where Vader was the driven Sith Lord, it was interesting to see him as someone whom, for the second time in the series, doubts the path he has chosen. Palpatine was also excellent as the cackling boo-hiss guy.
The space battle as the end may have been a rehash of Episode 4 but it was very well done, and what kind of Star Wars fan doesnt appreciate a good space battle? It also has Leia in THAT bikini, Jabba the Hutt, The Luke/Han/Leia triangle ....want me to go on all night?
Yes the Ewoks V Stormtroopers seems one for the kiddes and Boba Fett in the pit was a brutal way to deal with the Character, but when I see Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anakin(the digital insertion of Christensen works quite), I always get that warm fuzzy glow that a great saga is at an end and the good guys Won.

Worst? Probably TPM. Not a big criticism, its a good film, but as one review stated, its essentially about two guys : their spaceship breaks down and they have to get parts for it. :D Darth Maul is criminally underused and I wont mention the most obvious flaw in the film, but it made me realise the Ewoks were not that bad after all !

I agree with the OP : this forum needs a shot in the arm alright. Star Wars beers? :)

If you read the book The Balance of the Force, you may be pleasently surprised...It's a great book too!

I think The Phantom Menace is probably the worst, it's too kiddyish, too many little subplots that go nowhere, but Darth Maul is one of my favourite characters. I was actually rooting for him at the end, he could've at least took Obi-Wans hair =P Despite some flaws, like its being cheesy and parts and the sometimes wooden Christenson (like the end, the nooooooooo isn't quite anguished enough for my liking!), I love ROTS, it's dark and ****s on the nicey-nice end of TPM. Which is satisfying to the max!

    I have to say

    1. Empire Strikes back
    2. Return of the Jedi
    3. A new Hope
    4. Revenge of the Sith
    5. Attack of the clones
    6. Phanton menace.

Revenge of the sith was thew best of the new trilogy but dont mistake it fir "good", for me its just the lesser of three evils.:o

    1 Empire strikes back
    2 A new hope
    3 Return of the jedi
    4 Attack of the Clones
    5 Phantom Menace
    6 .
    7.
    8.
    9 Revenge of the Sith

    In order of crapness:

    Attack of the Clones
    Revenge of the Sith
    The Phantom Menace
    Return of the Jedi
    Empire Strikes Back
    A New Hope

But it's a tough one to call between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. I choose A New Hope over it as I feel as a stand alone movie it works better.
