Hi guys, I'm not really a follower of this forum but I'm somebody who is interested in the nature of betting "tips" for academic reasons (I study gambling), my question is - by any chance have any of you logged the results of each of the races tipped in the new tips sticky and have a % of which were winning bets? Thanks.

    Hi Hotspur,

The answer is no. The tips success/failure has not been logged on an on-going basis. A lot of posters here will follow a certain system(s) though. Some might involve the tracking of certain horses in certain races in certain conditions.

We will be starting a competition soon, in conjunction with the Cheltenham Festival, where the results (win/loose/place) will be tracked. I like your idea though, it might not be a bad idea.

If you do a search on the word Competition on this forum you will see where tips have been tracked over a defined period of time.

I did a little totting up...

In the tips sticky, there are 11 winners and 32 losers from 43 tips. A strike-rate of 25.58%

Taking the official starting price of each winner, the tips would yield a total level-stakes profit of 9.91 for unit stakes on each selection (a return of 123.05%).

However, some tips were given as "each-way" selections and taking this into account, it becomes 11 winners, 4 places and 28 losers. Again at official starting prices, the tips would yield a total profit of 16.10 for unit stakes (a return of 137.44%).

As I'm sure you know, this is a very small sample space but I think there is some merit to these results rather than just being positive variance.

And lets not forget the many winners posted outside of the sticky. Feel like trawling through those Crumbs?? ;)

Good work sir, yeah it's still a small sample but you guys may have some good tipsters here :) It will be interesting reading when the sticky has been going longer.

Pity I went and sullied the record today with a shocker of a tip. Anyway, I suppose I'll keep track of the results over the longer term.
