1080i using VGA?

My tv says it supports 1080i and I have the vga cable but I'm given no option for 1080i (1920x1080). The highest res it allows me to get to is 1360x768. Any ideas?

use the hdtv leads - or do you not have them?

i think you have to use the Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable to set 1080i

i would think you would be better with 720p rather than going to 1080i, you are relying on the TVs deinterlacer and scaling as I doubt it is 1920x1080 native?
you are likely to see a quality difference with the 1080i image looking much softer and not as repsonsive as 720p.

let us know which one ends up looking better?

use the same VGA setting, it will look brilliant, 1080i will not offer much more, if anything.

agree that putting 1366x768 into it will look great, 1080i will probably look worse. as the display has to deinterlace and scale and you are also getting half the frame rate...

Grand job. Looks great alright but just making sure I'm not missing out on anything. Cheers. BTW, someone should post when the GRAW demo comes out or on hearing of it's arrival on the marketplace.

Will the picture from the 360 on the the above mentioned philips lcd look better when displayed at it's native resolution. If so, anybody have a clue what it's native resolution is?

The native resolution of the screen is: 1366 x 768p, it says it on the page.

actually - looking at the detailed spec, it only lists as far as 1024 x 768 as a compatable computer format resolution, so you might have best luck with that setting via VGA. Give it a go anyway.

The only problem is trying to tell the difference between them visually. They all look great.

well if ye can't tell the difference why are you asking the question?

If you can't see the difference yourself then set it to the lowest res. that your happy with, that way the console doesn't have to work so hard, which generates heat, which causes the fans to speed up, which makes more noise and uses more energy which damages the enviroment and makes the baby jesus cry!

I'm pretty sure there is a difference but I'd have to compare them side by side.
