Graffiti Artists Wanted to spray our van!!!

Okay I didn't know where to post this thread so I'm posting it here, maybe some of ye could help us out. I'm in a band called Silver Trail ( http://www.silver-trail.com ) and we're starting to gig a lot throughout the country. We own a '98 Toyota Hi-Ace, it's in really good condition.

Basically the story is that we want someone to do a paint job on our van. We're looking for the name of the band on both sides of the van in a sorta 80's style old-school graffiti. Now we can't afford to pay someone to do this. We should be able to cover thier costs if they're not too high. We can drive to any corner of the country to get this done so don't worry about distance. We're based in Cork.

This might sound like a cheeky thing to do - asking someone to do a paint job on our van for free. But we think that there would be people out there that would want to do this. They get to have their artwork driven all around the country.

So if there's anyone interested or knows of someone who might be interested please pm me or post here.

    Cheers Guys

    Bump!

I'm gonna keep this one up for a while. Someone's gotta know someone who'd be up for this incredibly fun task.
Is there any good Irish Graffiti websites?

    Help us out

Yeah love, I dont know if you'll get many replies in the bands/musicians forum. Why don't you try the Arts section on Boards?

Looking forward to seeing that funky van strutting its stuff around the country!

    Take it easy...

    you could always try http://www.bombdublin.com/forum/

To be honest, i know it would be cool n all, but if i owned a van full of gear, the last thing i would want to do is bring attention to myself. Too many scummers around to risk it.

indeed.. maybe if you have a band ''symbol'', get the symbol painted on the side or something... less is more

All good points........ but cheers for the help. We've thought about the whole risk of having our name splashed on the side of the van with all the gear inside, but it's too much of a fun project.

I'll keep ye posted on how it goes.

    Anymore advice is appreciated....

Whatever you do dont paint your bandwagon man. It will be stroked within a month. Blackout the windows though.

yup.. it's a bit of a stupid risk just because it's more fun! Unless you use ****e gear that it! But if that's the case use the money to buy better gear:)

Yeah I see where ye'r all comin from. I think we'll have to go back to the drawing board with this one.

Is there any bands going around out there with thier names done on their vans? Or does everyone decide against it coz it's too risky.

Nobody goes around with their name on their van, mostly because it would be like have " Steal my ****" written on it

I know a few of the graff heads around dublin, one in particular is a very good friend of mine and hes ace at it. He tries to find ways to get his stuff shown in the most obscure places, and he teaches it aswell to developing schools and so on.

    So hes pritty good.

Im sure you lads could muster up a couple of quid each - i mean cmon, 10 quid out of the lot of you aint gonna burn a hole in your pocket!

you have to remember that paint is expencive, and if you think that just painting over the van will do your horribly wrong. If you want a good paintjob, and a professional finish, then you need to sand the thing down inside and out, prime it (which happens no matter what), then paint which is again, expencive!

If you want me to mention it to my mate who will gladly do it im sure, give me a pm and ill send you his details

    Cheers for the help
