Im trying to buy a high spec Inspiron 9400 for as low a price as possible. Iv heard about the Dell coupons and I thought id try get one. I mean if you could get nearly 25% off the price, why not!!

I did the usual google search and found a few sites where they give out the coupon codes. The thing is that every single code I tried was expired. I understand that there are limited numbers of coupons available but I was just wondering is there any sort of technique to aquiring these codes and using them before they expire? Or do you literally have to keep an eye on the website 24/7 and then jump at the opportunity once the coupon codes are released to the public. Has anyone out there actually managed to take advantage of these Dell coupons??? Id be very interested in any feedback you may have.

theres a thing that if you ring up sales reps from dell and sweet talking them into selling you one at the lowest price they can (between 20% to 40% off is gureenteed) sell it too you at a lower price, just be nice and if you arnt been givin much off ring up again another day because they must sell a certain amout of stuff and can only give a certain amount of money off;) if you try it tell us how you get on cause it does work ;)

No Chance. 5%, maybe, 10% - only if your buying something expensive and margin rich. 40% not in a million years...

We'll Id be spending about 2500 euro on the 9400. As well as that my dad has only just bought a Inspiron 6000 1 month ago off dell. The two orders will be made off the same credit card. So id say considering we will have given Dell in the region of 4000 euros worth of business then there should be every chance that a discount should be given on my order. 10-15% of 2500 euro is a considerable amount. So If I got that id be delighted.
Between 20-40% would be die and gone to heaven type stuff :-)

As Zascar said, no chance of anything over 10%.

It depends on what your buying. A cheap dimension or inspiron - little of no chance of any discount whatsoever. A mid-high end server or storage, you might get 30% if you play your cards right. There is very little money in everyday hardware these days, Dell make their money from other things like services, finance and Enterprise

I recently purchased a Dell Latitude D410 and managed to talk myself into a 15% discount. So it does work. Mind you I did push for more and I hit a brick wall, so they have their limits.

I got 200 off an dell optiplex that cost 1700, got him down to 1500. Tried emailing the same geezer a couple of months later for a cheaper system and was told not a hope of a discount

Latitudes and optiplex have far more margin so depending on the spec you usually should get somehting worthwhile. Any cheap dimension or inspiron just get online

If you order online but don't complete the order but leave it to come back later. Checking back may cause discounts. I went from full price to 15% off and free delivery.

Did get a free Poweredge 1850 last year when I ordered a 2850... incredibly good offer... then again the previous week I had spent around 20k on workstations.

Went to notebookreview.com and got a few coupon codes which were released reciently. Low and behold they work. Unfortunately they only work on the American dell website. Wonder why they wont just let the coupons be applicable to all the international Dell sites aswell?

I wish I had read this thread 3 months ago ....

My 5 year old Dell was hit up the 'Jacksy' by lightning and Dell quoted approx 500.00 bucks to fix it ..... I ended up buying new but I'm sure I could have got a decent discount if I had known about the above and the value of 'Sympathy' !!!! .... :(

Dell in Europe don't really use coupons and the usual US things like rebates etc.

Not dell's greatest fan but orderd one of there the weekend. Was poking around the outlet store and found this gem:

9400 1.86 duo with 7800 Geforce, 3 year warranty and XPS carry case! All for under €1500 inc vat! Was set on Acer but the geforce 7800 and screen resolution swung it for me. Must have been a cancelled order caus this model is very new.

Major downside is it will need a full wipe of the crap dell install of windows and built with proper lean version. Then to clock up the geforce to standard and happy days!

That's what outlet systems are most of the time - cancelled orders or else change of mind within 7 days.
