    OK

More ram and a harddrive is all you can really do for a rig that old.

Other than that you are talking buying a cheap dell or building a cheap amd64 box for 500-600.

Looking pc100 sdram prices on shop4memory.com: about 100euro for 512mb.

Would nearly say bugger it and buy/build new.

Tthe cheapest way ,is buy 512meg ram , and 250/500 gig standard ide hard drive from sum1 on boards.ie/ for sale computer forum.BUT , i,d advise you to buy a p4 2400 or amd 3.oghz pc from boards.ie ,forum for sale, if you are on a budget.you cud get fast pc here around 250euro with hd and fast agp card installed.it probably wont have an agp card, and its not worth upgrading the cpu.GET at least a geoforce 3 ,or 4 graphics card agp is faster, but you may not have an agp grahics slot on the motherbord.GET a 64meg video ram geoforce,3 or 4 pci videocard if you ONLY HAVE PCI SLOTS, on the motherboard. You will need a pci type graphics video card. The new standard for grahics cards is pci-e express , your pc will only have pci slots, and maybe an agp slot, i doubt if you have agp video interface/slot seeing as its only 400mhz cpu. i dont think its worth upgrading 4oomhz pc,unless you can get pc parts for nothing. Get a pentium 4 ,then when you have the money u can upgrade the p4 with fast 256meg video card, and large hd, and 512/1000meg ram.
I THINK you need at least pentium 3 , 800mhz to set up a server ,otherwise its not worth the time. for that pc you,d probaly need pc100or pc133 SDRAM ,memory simm,s.
hes, right ,give it to a charity shop, or electronics.recyling .finglas. they have a website, they take in old pcs, monitors etc.

Your CPU is too way slow for a tv card.... 1 ghz min(for cheap bottom line card if your believe their min reqs.)

No point getting a new agp. Won't do much for ya.

You really need to upgrade platform :-)

550mhz i know its not alot but for a dell and a computer this old i thought it was an achievment :o tho the oc is no longer on as i was hoping to wipe the drive (not sure how to do it with windows going too, can someone tell me?) and install ubuntu linux
