I've only seen 3 fights so far. All I can say is, wow. Unexpected so far. Shogun's arm looks like it was broke backwards.. Sick looking. I don't think we'll see Shogun fight again, that's how serious it was. And the big eruption between Coleman, Wanderlei and Phil Baroni after the fight. It was hard to make out what happened.

Rizzo.. What can I say, poor guy got knocked the hell out. Zentsov must of telegraphed that patented low kick from Pedro.. caught him perfect. Lights out.

    Nog/tamura - Went as expected.

Still haev to see the rest of the fights when I get home from work. All I can say so far is, I'm really worried about the career for Shogun. I don't know anyone can come back after their arm was snapped in half.. Well, their is Sylvia.. So there is hope. We'll see. I'm not sure how serious the injury was as I'm staying away from all the popular forums to avoid spoilers for the other fights, but from what I saw - It looked serious.

his arm is not broken - he dislocated his elbow - a nasty injury and quite a shock but not as bad as it looked - esp on youtube as the quality of the vid (not to mention the japaneese commentary) made it unclear as to what happened - looks like shogun is out of the openweight gp though :(

Only dislocated? Ok, look alot worse though when I saw it. Good to hear.

hmm, correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't a dislocated elbow worse than a broken arm?

i mean, brokens arms set back together, possibly stronger then orginally. but dislocations are dodgy for ever.

Nasty for Shogun, but he's young and I'm sure he'll bounce back in some way or another.

I was happy to see Coleman get the win, I think he would have been finished had he lost this one.

Shogun just made the mistake when he was bailing on the heel hook. Because he exploded away from Coleman, and then got double legged, he had a lot of momentum behind him when he hit the canvas.

I didn't see the fight but how the hell did rampage not finish a judoka with a record of 0-2-0? I thought he would have made easy work of him.

What did anyone think of the outcome of Overeem vs. Kharitonov?

Seemed like a great card, plenty of upsets. Just what I like.

A dislocation is only worse than a break if any damage is done to the tissue surrounding the joint, i.e cartilage, ligament, tendon and muscle, or if any damage is actually done to the joint itself , chipping, loss of synovial fluid etc.

I have dislocated my left shoulder twice but do not suffer any sides at all as both times it seems to have been a clear dislocation and was popped back in pretty much there and then. ( this is important as although it hurts like a bastard, even a few minutes of extra swelling in the joint can mean lots of soft tissue damage in the joint and also extra pain to the injured party! )

And from the viedo it would seem that one of the medics popped it back in there and then for him, lucky guy!

All in all, i'm not too sure why things kicked off afterwards, it is not as if Coleman inflicted the injury at all , let alone with any malicious intent. He would simply have been confused that the match was stopped.

Wow, Shogun V Coleman, what a fight, First thing I think is "wow, world class wrestling" no sooner have I thought that and I'm saying "wow, world class Jitz". Shame it went the way it did.

It looks liek he got the same dislocation as Henzo (aggainst Sak) and he's fine. ANyway Im sure being part of Chute Box its only going to make his training tougher!

    Peace

It would seemt that Wand went for Coleman because they felt that Coleman was trying to inflict further damage on Shogun

As Shogun went down on his arm and dislocated it, that arm stayed sticking out, so Coleman went for it. When the ref pushed him off and stopped it he was obviously confused as he had not struck, nor submitted Shogun and would hardly have been thinking "maybe he hurt his arm".

This would also explain why he pushed the ref, which he should not have done anyway but hey, you spend weeks thinking about a fight, training for a fight and eating for a fight ( plus a fight that 90% of the world thinks you will lose ) and you will get into a certain frame of mind, kick things off and you flick a switch and your not the same person.

Baroni's first involvment seemed to be to pull Coleman back away from Ninja ( i think it was Ninja ) all in all it was just an unfortunate incident.

check this out, taken by someone at the event, it's a bit shaky, you can see Wand charge Coleman and get put down, Baroni goes in for the "break up" and if you watch right at the end of the clip he throws a shot at Wand from guard/mount it's hard to see ( pretty sure it was guard though )

All the talk now is of Baroni getting matched with Silva during the open weight tournament, after taking Wanderlai down!!!
    could be interesting!!!

I'm not surprised the Chute Boxe corner flipped. The ref pulled Coleman off Shogun, shouting at him to stop, and Coleman throws him out of the way!

Gee I wonder what could have caused such hyper-aggression? Hmm...

Pride must have had all their dreams come true, since Chute Boxe vs BTT is largely played out, now it's Chute Boxe versus Hammer House. Silva will hit Baroni so hard, he won't wake up until he hits the shores of the USA.

Clive! Surely you're not saying you've no confidence in those lightening fast hands of Baroni?!!!!

If you saw the fight you'd know why! The judoka fought brilliantly considering his opponent. His guard game was what saved him and he was very unlucky not to get the armbar on both occasions, they were TIGHT!!! Just a testament to Rampage's skill at escapes i suppose. That Judoka had a hard head though - he must have taken a dozen or so knees from side control and it still didn't stop him. Quality Fight!!!

Seems Overeem is turning into a ground fighter more and more with every fight. Who'da thunk it?? What next, Royce knocking out Matt Hughes on his feet???:D

Although it didnt look so good on paper it was one of the most memorable mma cards ever for sure, great entertainment.

Shoguns injury was so dissapointing fingers crossed its not gonna affect him long term. Also you can clearly see that Kharitonov did his shoulder in on landing from that takedown by overeem - another freak injury he shouldve tapped straight away, lucky win for allistar methinks.

    Great show!
