it's for brownthomas and it was in a box the black card was still inside

iknow i'm such a cheapskate if i found it in a club or something i would have handed it in

does anyone know if i can use it or is it linked to the person who paid for it

If it's got a serial number there's a pretty good chance they'll be able to return it to its rightful owner if they paid by credit card (pretty likely for a 400 quid voucher).

they'd know though like murphaph said since it has a serial number thingy wouldn't they

Bring it back to BT's and tell them you found it. Imagine how you would feel if you lost a €400 voucher...

try and get it back to the person. I would go mad if i lost a E400 voucher. It could have been a present for someone! Even worse.

You can cancel those cards as soon as you realise you've lost them, so it could already be cancelled, in which case you'll get a spanking from BT's if you try to spend it.

Vouchers are usualy given to people as gifts. The staff at BT would have no way to prove if it was yours originaly. Well, unless the the voucher got cancelled. Then you're in trouble :D

^^yes whoever lost will most likely go back to BTS and report so that if anyone does come in with a 400e voucher it will be taken off..

There will be a serial number on it..It happened me before I lost A River Island voucher..i cant remember how but they got the serial no. or something like that and said they'd call if anyone did try and use it..
Come to think of it they never did call,...........?

Yeah I can imagine, I suspect some of the twats from yesterday will use that as an excuse for looting as well....

    Spend it.
Brown thomas relaesed figures that showed that 80% of all gift vouchers purchased for them are never actually spent, so chances are, the recipient would never have actuall spent it anyway. Enjoy it

I heard some competition on the radio yday for 400voucher for BT, cant remember what the competition was tho

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 377 ✭✭Aporia

i'd rather spend money knowing i earned it though i don't like the idea of it being someone elses and i'd be upset if someone spent my 400 euro

    it is tempting though...

spend it. if the question its validity, play dumb. say you got it as a gift and have no idea why it has been cancelled. then get angry and storm out of the shop.

imo, anyone that who has enough spare cash to go out and buy a 400 euro voucher won't miss it

I wouldn't say that - it could have been a Christmas bonus or present from a boss or the like. I've not got a spare penny but we got our (much needed) bonus last year in the form of a gift voucher. If I'd lost mine I'd be devastated!!

okay now my aunt was saying that it could be from bt ie. credit points because she got the exact same thing in a box for 50 euro because she had 50 points

My parents gave me a €500 voucher for BT for my 21st birthday- are you assuming that we wouldn't have missed it? Childish.

I spent the last bit I had on it this year on a coffee machine. Just because there was 400 on it doesn't mean they would blow it all on shoes on one trip.

Also, if they were loaded, I doubt they'd buy themselves a voucher. If they were used to spending that much money in BT's regularly, they'd have a Store Card, or just use their credit card.

yes but i doubt those 80% have vouchers to the tone of €400.

I got to say I feel so sorry for the poor person who lost the voucher!
what if an old dying granny got her grand daughter it as a gift?
If your unsure flip a coin to decide!!

Stick it in the Buy & Sell for €300 :v:

Some criminal gang could have been using BT to launder money using the gift vouchers, spend it and feel proud that you have broken an illegal operation, you are a good citizen ;)

how can you tell it's for €400? I thought they were on kinda swipe cards now like Roches Stores and A-Wear have? They don't have the value written on the card...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

    ''with great power....."

I wouldn't bring it back if I were you. The person was dumb enough to lose it so why shouldn't you take pleasure from their stupidity? Go on, you deserve it.

I recently left my wallet in a bar, large sum of money, all my cards, loads of numbers and some pictures inside. Three days later I realised I might have left it in the bar, called in and someone had left it in.

Since then I have vowed to always hand anything I find in.

Not that simple. I worked in House of Fraser using the same POS system as BT, credit card numbers are tracked but that's all. Searching is a pain, and what company would honestly go through the hassle of trying to get a name from a credit card number?

Several years ago I lost £200 in vouchers in a store in Dublin about a week before Christmas. I was sickened. But some honest person handed it back in. You can't imagine what it felt like to get them back.

Bring it back to the store, it will do both of you good.

well at this stage it's either

give in the voucher and say i found it. if i do that they'll just keep it since i doubt they'd go to the bother of finding out who originally paid for it if they can actually do that in the first place.

or spend... it hehe i'm running out of channel anyway...

maybe it was fate and i'm supposed to spend it :o
