Overclockers co uk

    Is overclockers.co.uk really crap?

They have the exact graphics card I want but they seem to have a bit of a terrible reputation too, including even a site devoted to mocking them? I'm picking this up just from various bits of googling and so forth so maybe it's all being highly exaggerated (or just out of date even). Plus, people tend to post things when stuff goes wrong and not when everything goes perfectly smoothly... so, wondering, is there a definitive opinion on whether or not to order from overclockers.co.uk? Have people had any recent experiences good or bad???

    Cheers ;)

    They can be very dodgy.

First pc I built, i ordered the parts from them and they arrived about 4 weeks late...

I bought my last gfx card off them as I was in the same boat as you: they had exactly the card I wanted.(That turned up on time)

If they def have what you want it stock, chances are it will arrive to ya.

But if you have any sort of bad luck with the delivery or the card is faulty you are in for a hell of a time.

Ordered about 2 grand's worth of stuff off them a few months back. Didn't have any problems.
Although if something does go wrong, stick to email with them. Their phone support is dire (ie. no one answers).

Thanks for that. Decided to just go ahead and bite the bullet so I put my order in tonight. Hopefully, all goes well! :)

Hate them. Don't believe anything their site says. If it lists something a "in stock", it's probably a lie. But good luck getting someone to tell you that though, because they don't answer the phone and their e-mail replies are dire (ie you ask several questions, they give you a one-line reply that tells you nothing).

they are fine, but like most online companies i've dealt with (excluding play.com) if you have to use their after sales service it will get tricky.

I've ordered about 6 times and never had any trouble with them. Most recently I ordered a hard drive enclosure on tuesday and got it today.
Whats the link for the site thats devoted to giving out about them? Sounds interesting

I don't know what it is.... but I was thinking of www.overcockers.co.uk , but that doesn't seem to work, so I don't know :)

Have ordered about 4 grand worth of stuff and all grand.

i dealt with them before when i lived in the uk.
i rang them to order my stuff, as i had special delivery instructions, and i asked the cs agent what if something goes wrong, he then said that we guarantee replacement if its a manufacture or delviery defect ( if its broken he meant )
and if there is anything we can do, we do tend to use the phone a lot to help our customer's get the best of their products.
i asked for a copy of this in writing.

low and behold, when my stuff arrived they were late.
the cpu was dodgy from the start, but i played around and found it wasnt new!
so i e-mailed them and asked for a replacement.
they told me all this bull**** and banter.

so i went to a solicitor and explained the problem.
he wrote a letter on my behalf, and 2 days later they phoned me to tell me they were sending a return bag along with a "new" cpu.

never had a problem with that rig since i sold it.
and i never dealt with them since.

my advice, if you can get what you want from komplett, then thats fine. their delivery ( apart from christmas time ) is pretty good, and their after sles isnt too shabby if they can help.

They used to better then average. However these days they're not. Especially difficult for after sales support and returning items. I was a big fan in the past. Pity. These days I use Komplett aswell. Not amazing either but tend to be more professional. One problem with komplett is that there stock level indication is dodgy. Don't buy unless they have 20 unit or more in stock. You can have problems if theres 5 unit and it goes out of stock as you order. They tend to allow you to buy it, and not tell you its out of stock.

    Ive had no major problems.

They seem to be very slow and Ive had to wait about 4 weeks for stuff before.

Once, I traced my order only to find out that half of it was in the middle of
France. They promptly fixed that problem. Id about a 3 week wait in total for
    all of the stuff.

Another time I ordered a harddrive that they had in stock but after a week of
waiting for it to be shipped Id to spam them with email to find out what was
going on. Apparently they hadnt any in stock and had no plans to inform me of
    this.

But really thats all the bad stuff from my years of dealing with them. Its not too
serious. No service is totally perfect. You have to draw the line somewhere and
make a agreement with yourself as to what is acceptable. So I still use them
    to this day. :)

Ive also used komplet a few times. No problems at all there. Although its been
about 6 months since I used them last.

I think that used to be it alright but now it's a dot com for some reason which then just gives you links... ie this is the narky mainsite: http://ocuk.cjb.net/ and a not particularly well supported forum here: http://forums.overcockers.com/index.php

On the other hand, they've already sent me a dispatch email with tracking number for the graphics card so my own order seems to be moving along fine thankfully. I'm building the PC sourcing from three sites, Overclockers, KustomPc and Kompleat. The first two have apparently sent my stuff at this stage but it's ironically Kompleat who are dragging their heels at the moment!

Never had any problems with them, I was very happy with the stuff I ordered from them last week, it came in record time: ordered it on a Friday night, had my new case installed and running on Wednsday! :)

Bought a monitor from them, I live in London, had it the morning after the day I ordered it.

Buying is fine. Its when you have a problem is where it goes wrong.

Orderd from them at least a dozen times or more and never had problem, had to RMA things twice and that went smoothly too. guess iv been lucky... On average its taken 3-4 days for delivery.

Order something off them but they would not post my the video card to me unless i forward some info to them. Well im very lazy and just got the video card off another site. But the catch here is that they took my money out of my credit card and still have not refunded me. That was the 31st of jan 06.

Well my card is here but I can't test it out until my mobo arrives from Komplett. The sting in the tail is that the delivery company GLS/ParcelForce delivered to the wrong address altogether. And apparently argued then that that was the right address. I've stared here at the label for about five minutes and I really can't see it - the post code bit is the same, that's about it!

Anyhow, the guy who it was delivered to just took it in and brought it across to me, which was nice enough of him, but I think that's the last time I'll risk going to Overclockers, not because of their service but because of the crap couriers they use :(

    LOL!

Last order I got from Komplett, I used An Post.
Ordered Saturday (effectively monday), delivered wednesday. They beat DHL's record from Komplett to my house by 2 days.

The one time I used them, Parcelforce took 3 months to deliver from England.

GLS give one ring on your doorbell and if your're not there you'll be running around for 2 weeks trying to get your package. Thats if they find your town at all, which they can find challenging.

Aye, I've had problems before with GLS when ordering from Komplett - didn't cop though that ParcelForce was the same crowd as GLS. The last time I ordered with GLS it took seven days to get the package off them. They are brutal altogether

Have used overclockers (with a bit from komplett) for all my pc builds for the last 3 years. Never had a major problem tho.

Have twice had to use their rma service (first time was about 3 years ago and it was all done very quickly). Second time was Jan 06. I bought a logitech sound system from them back in dec 04 and it went tits up last july.
Never had a problem from them when i returned it in january (about 2 weeks after warranty in UK was up. Why only a year warranty in UK and 2 from european resellers i dont know but still) although i am still waiting for it, it has been dispatched. I had to email them using their webnotes system a couple of times to find out what the delay was on each occasion but they did answer promptly when i did. They seem to be very much a reactive customer support team rather than pro-active (if ya catch my meaning).

Overall im more than happy to order from them and continue to do so (unless its a small order, their £10 flat delivery fee is nasty for small orders but great for my 23kg speakers :p ).
