Anyone else following this? Looks like it could be finished for good now. Phil Ivey took Beal for about 16.6million over the past 3 days. Makes you wonder why they didnt have Ivey in from the start of the matches.

One thing i would have to question about this andy beal character is that despite having more money than any of us can ever dream of and him needing to play at these stakes to make it 'interesting' for him is WHY?

why try to take on the very best players in the world, just so you can say you've conquered another thing in life, why not enjoy being that loaded and pay into a couple of big money tournaments every year to get your poker buzz. go and play some of the $10,000 and $25,000+ buy in events and see if you can beat these games

is the 'big game' at the bellagio, with the same suspects who are part of this corportaion not big enough for him, where he could still prove he is world class?

all i can say is fair play to Ivey again, pretty much proving that he is a cut above the rest of his pro's whom a lot of suffered pretty large losses to beal

You should read the book 'The Banker, the Professor, and the Suicide King'. It explains all of this.

He's a gazilionaire, so the money doesn't matter hugely to him. Also by all accounts he is an excellent heads up player. He doesn't like playing in full tables though. He enjoys the challenge, and he thinks that by making the stakes so ridiculously high he can put the pros off their game and get an edge over them. He has lost overall, but has also had extended winning sessions that definitely weren't flukes.

And this follow-up article seems to confirm he is finished.

that's not a follow-up article. that's talking about a game that "After five days the match ended -- apparently for good -- only moments before the Superbowl."

Beal unretired in 5 daysand took the corpo for 7-10M. The match with Ivey was after this. The latest news says "The Corporation had recovered their $10 million loss since Feb 1, and earned another $6.5 million in revenue through Ivey's efforts."

Well, he can lose 16 million and still be loaded.

By all accounts he is an expert heads up limit hold'em player. He can't play this game in the big poker tournaments or in the "big game" in the Bellagio. Like all poker players, he plays in a game where he thinks he can win.

Well havent you answered your own question in that sentence? Thats the way people like Andy Beal are. They constantly set themselves goals and seek new challenges and aspire to be the best at whatever they do. Richard Branson is another prime example.

Plus if i had as much money as him and 20 odd million was no biggy Id definately want to play against doyle, phil Ivey, gus hansen and the rest in a cash game. I would love the opportunity and I would have thought that most poker players would love that opportunity.

    BEAL & BRUNSON.
Is Doyle ever going to play him.
