I would love to go to this gig. I was a huge fan as a child and teenager. Im just wondering how much demand will there be for tickets? Would I be safe enough to go down to ticketmaster when It opens, or will there be people out all night. Then again, will it even sell out?

Its the type of gig im not sure if it will be huge or not.

Talking over with other people that has seen them when they were in their prime myself included, none of us have any interest in going to see them, so going by that I'd say it won't be one of those concerts that sell out in a couple of hours.

Doubt it - now that Motley Crue appear to be off the bill, wouldn't be arsed going myself!

I'd love to go haven't made up my mind. €65 + ticketbastard booking fee is very steep, gonna be difficult to convince any friends to pay that.

Actually i've a feeling there will be huge demand for this gig. Like i've said on other threads, this will be your only chance to see Guns n Roses play live, even if it is a sort of half clone version of the band. You won't hear these songs being played live in a big venue again. (not in Dublin anyway)

I know the people who have seen them before say they're not interested and thats fair enough but there are alot of people out there who haven't seen them live at all and for them this is a once off opportunity that they never expected to get.

Not sure if it will sell out, its one of those gigs that could swing either way but I do think there will be a huge crowd and me, i'm gonna play it safe and get my tickets first thing come Saturday and I think curiousity will get the better of most of you peeps who have seen em before. Just remember the songs that you will be hearing and I think that will be enough for you to get a ticket. I could name a few but I don't think its neccessary.

was in sound cellar yesterday and there was people putting deposits on their tickets.. loads of people were doing it.

I'd be very surprised if it didn't sell out, I don't think I'll bother now either, it's too steep for Axl alone, with no other supports listed, was going more for the Crue anyway......but I've no doubt at all that this will have a much wider audience than people are estimating......

Why can't you just buy them online???

I can't see it selling out, they are now what, one fifth of the original band.
I'm not a massive G'n'R fan but if they (in a completely insane dreamland) reformed the original group I would have interest of going but I have absolutely no interest in seeing basically Axl and a bunch of random people perform.

I'm sure most people who saw them at Slane would have no intention of going, only those who only got into them over the last few years.

Then again I could totally wrong!!

Doubt it, Slash has said publicly on many occasions that Axl has more or less lost the plot, even thou his tone was more feeling sorry for him than being angry at him.

    Just bought my tickets :)

Bought 4 myself- €281.80. Very fúcking steep. Moment of madness maybe. I was at Slane. 1st concert. It was excellent.

    I'd say it'll sell out.

This Axl -v- the rest of the band thing has been laid to rest apparently, and recent interviews with Slash would indicate that it's far from unlikely that they'll play together again, he seems to know an awful lot about Chinese Democracy too..........but either way that's all pure speculation....

If I believed everything I heard on the Radio I'd be getting to see Motley Crue in Dublin this year..........

Picked up a couple of tickets, already know a bunch of people going to this just to hear Axl singing the songs, with the general public that'd be more enticing than hearing the band playing them......

    From official Motley Crue site:
Irish concert promoters Aiken Promotions have confirmed that MÖTLEY CRÜE will **NOT** be supporting GUNS N' ROSES on June 9 at the RDS Arena in Dublin, Ireland, despite previous reports to the contrary. "I'm afraid the radio ads will still have MÖTLEY CRÜE as playing as they were produced before they had decided to cancel the date," reads a new e-mail message sent out by an Aiken representative. "There are new radio ads being produced that will not have MÖTLEY CRÜE included. As I hope you can appreciate we had just found out yesterday evening so promotion is still in the process. Sorry for any confusion caused."

With Anglesea stand tickets are you free to go out onto the pitch, or are you stuck in there seating for the whole thing ?

Looked like Aiken were just trying to con people, they were advertising a band that had never been confirmed for a gig and trying to sell the tickets on the back of it, only for the Crue management being so quick to get the name taken off the bill there'd be a lot of pissed off people this morning.....

you're stuck in the Stands but there are ways my friend!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

Stand tickets almost sold out by the way.....so I've just been informed.....that'd be all the old folks....:)

Yeah, the Irish Independant stupidly ran an article on Thursday in which they said that the original line up was playing the RDS in June! lol On the other hand, I wouldnt be too mad if I suggested that Velvet Revolver might support or indeed open for GnR?

Im extremely pissed about this, but I have to say that at the end of the day its all Aikens fault since they should have bloody confirmed the band BEFORE they made advertisements. I did think that considering the history between them it was a little odd to see them open for Guns N Roses, but on the other hand, I think that this hand to of come from somewhere. Maybe im just clutching at straws, but whats to say that a couple of weeks down the line Motley Crue wont confirm a Download apperance and then suddenly support GnR. Maybe this wont happen but now that the band know about this ixup theyd want to help us out since theyve never played Ireland before and its an untapped market? I do know that theyre not playing 'anymore' btw but im still hoping perhaps....

Just got my tickets. The band consists of Robin Finck (ex-NIN), Chris Pittman (ex-Tool), Richard Fortus (ex-NENA), Brian Mania (ex-Primus), Dizzy Reed, Tommy Stintson (ex-Replacements) and Axl Rose himself.

I saw David Lee Roth in Vicar Street a couple of years ago and he had a great band with him, including current Megadeth bassist James Lomenzo, and they played Van Halen perfectly while not being the real band. the reason im mentioning this is because as good as this band will be at playing other peoples songs (with the exceptions of any reworkings of covers like Live and Let Die and Knocking on Heavens Door) they will not be GNR

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

I know what you're sayin man, but I don't think a lot of the people that'll buy tickets will not care who's in the band as long as Axl is singing, infact they may never have known the band in the first place when listening to them on radio/Top of the Pops or whatever..........

It's definitely Aikens fault, the only question was it simply incompetence or was it deliberate to sell the tickets quicker........but as I said on another forum, they haven't said they aren't playing - it may just be that the download negotiations haven't been completed, the stuff on the Crue site is just Blabbermouth info.......

I can't see VR playing, though that might be fun.....apparently the band are taking a break while Scott Weiland writes a book and does something else I can't remember.......
