Being a PC enthusiast, you can imagine my displeasure when my girlfriend acquired herself a nice little iBook G4...

Anyway, here's the problem, I just upgraded her Panther install to Tiger (10.4.3) I was trying to patch her up to 10.4.5 but the standalone (delta 10.4.5 or 10.4.3 -> 10.4.4) wont install, I get a lovely message saying I dont meet the requirements, but not which requirements.

It also doesnt appear in the Software updates, in sys prefs. Any ideas? Is there something I need to do.

I'm logged in as the Admin account, other updates work fine.

To the best of my knowledge, 10.4.5 is only for the new Intel macs
Your G4 is not an intel mac so the latest update for you is 10.4.4.

No, 10.4.5 is for all macs running Tiger. Go to the Apple symbol in the upper lefthand corner then system update. This should bring you up to date. Why the bias against Apple? The iBook is a great computer.

as a matter of habit I do all my OS upgrades through Software Update....for ease more than anything....it'll automatically pick the right upgrade for you.

Fellas, as I've said already it doesnt appear in Software/System updates.

I'm thinking I might have used a beta install now.

The majority of my bias comes from the idea that 1 button is sufficent. Quite odd considering the CTRL click combination that is nesscessary.

Beta? were did you get your hand on that? Is it the developer one written only for intel?
I wouldn't be without my a two button mouse which works great with Tiger

    .....there you go!!!!

Listen 10.4.6 has just been seeded to developers so its likely to be released in the next 2/3 weeks....hang on for that and all your issues should be solved.

If you really cant wait this is the link to the combo update to bring 10.4.3 to 10.4.5, its a big one though - 125Mb

    Why the rush to upgrade?
    Being a PC enthusiast

Just used to needing the patches or computer shuts down I guess :P

Yeah Babypink kinda has the answer. Your 10.4.5 update is an incremental update and will only update 10.4.4, although your software update should really show 10.4.4 is available to you if the iBook has 10.4.3 already. What you could do if it's not practical to download 125megs at home is go into O2 or Spectra with a blank disk (and maybe carrying your iBook would help) and tell them you're on dial up and ask nicely if they might download and burn it to your disk. Never really understood why apple never let the mac magazines put it on their free disks.
