    Hey

Just wondering if someone could help me out. My little 10yr old cousin bought condemned for the 360 last week. Got home and played it for a little while. He started to get scared around the room with all the eyes on the wall and the dead woman on the floor. Now he's too scared to play it and wants to return it to swap it for COD2. Only thing is that his mum threw out the manual by accident when his brother left it on the kitchen counter. He was told he cant return the game unless it has the manual. So he's down a game/€75 (which he's pretty upset about at the moment) unless I can find someone willing to give up their manual. If anyone can help me out by giving me the manual I'd really appreciate it (so would my cousin :) )

I asked a friend but he'd rather keep his manual than help his friend and a 10 yr old kid out

    Thanks in Advance

    Darren

Try playing in the dark, in the night, and with a surround sound system that not only scares the ever living crap out of you from the fron, especially with a sub woofer, but also with the back speakers.

I don't have the manual (<- Loves to rent), but I'm guessing you should try on E-bay, since who knows what they could sell....

All I can say about the game is: That shopping mall level  . If you've played the game you know what I'm taking about ;) .
Pity the fighting gets a bit repetitive.

how did he buy a 18s game?

how did he buy a 18s game?

tbh, I was wondering that myself.

I mean, after all the debates recently about violent games and stuff, I would have thought that parents woudl have gotten a hint on these things.
I love this game and I agree it does scare the sh!t out of just about anybody, especially in the dark, and with 5.1 surround on and a 40" LCD screen, Mwahahahah

    Where are you based?

BTW, I just read that your cousin wants COD2, in that sense I don't think it is a good trade, the closest to action I would let a kid in that age woudl be Kameo.

seems a shame for a 10year old to waste his money on a mistake, as long as it is a lesson, especially for the parents and will open their eyes to looking at the age ratings.

They do have a purpose you know.

I might consider giving up my manual for him, but tbh, he is slipping from a scary game to a violent game which he doesn't have the right age for either

That game scares the pants outta me and im 25!

Cant imagine a 10 year old playin it, I thought Freddie Krueger was bad!

Hasnt a patch on the psychos after Agent Thomas......... :p

Yeah I know what you mean Gil. He was out with his older brother (24) and he asked him to get it for him. He loves games like GTA and Manhunt so I dont think the violence thing would be much of a problem. lol. He's just too afraid to play it. Cant wait to play condemned though on my 50" high def with 700watt 7.1 surround sound system :D but it will be a while before I get a 360, otherwise I'd just buy it off him

I'm in clondalkin village btw, could meet along red luas line, town somewhere, DCU or you could post it if it's handier

Wow what 10 year old has €75 in their pocket and can walk in and buy an 18's game!!!! things have changed, im only 26 but when i was 10 if i had £5 i was rich!!!

Anyway If he did in fact buy it himself.. go back with game and demand to speak to manager.. dont even talk to a normal sales person.. be outraged and tell the manager you will probably report him for selling a 10 year old a violent adult game and he now has nightmares... Im sure he will quickly forget about the manual grab the game, give you the cash and wish you well.. if you want to buy another adult game for him go elsewhere..

Lol yeah I remember the good ol days when you got a fiver it was loads. He got it out of his christmas money and he didnt buy it his brother did so that mightnt work

His brother is a muppet (no offense to you), honestly, the cover tells you enough to know it's really not suitable for 10 year olds.

If you can't get a manual, maybe stick it up on the FS Games or Trading board and see if anyone wants to trade it? Damn 360 games are so expensive, someone might want to trade it for a game they've finished.

I see a lot of people here very indignant that a 10 year old got there hands on an 18 game fair enough, I wonder how many of you as a kid ever played a game or watched a movie you shouldn't have? and how you feel the experience effected you and changed your behavior?

but leaving that sillyness aside, did he not download the demo of this game? I did and it creeped me out (lets just say I'm old and leave it at that kids :D) so I didn't buy the game and I deleted the demo, big whoop!

To be honest if I had the game I would happily hand over the manual to help this kid out, it seems he/she is aware of the mistake that they made and want to rectify it. They should be commended for this not criticised for there past actions!

As for the charge of switching form a scary to a violent game all I can say is get a grip I've been gaming for over 25 years (I told you I was old) and a lot of them have had a fairly violent slant, I don't walk round trying to live out these fantasies, that's the whole point of a game, it's a chance to do things you wouldn't do in real life.

Well said Alnilam. He realises the game is not for him. He told his mam he thinks he'll wait until he's older before playing it. He was just out with his brother to pick up a new 360 game. In fairness there isnt a lot out for him to choose from. Only sports games he likes is football and he already has fifa, he's not into fantasy, rpg, fighting games like doa4 so that doesnt leave him a lot to choose from. He likes shooting games, games with action etc. He just saw it, thought it looked good, a bit like Manhunt which he played on the PS2 and so asked his brother to get it for him. If he asked me to get it for him I would have too. I'm not going to say no because whats the point, he has played loads of other over 18's games. This is a nice little lesson for him though. And there is a huge amount of of people under 18 who buy games not suited for them, GTA is a great example I think. Also how many people here can honestly say they havent gone to see a film in the cinema that was rated above their age when they were younger

okay then, this can be my good deed for this year.

PM me your address and I will post you my manual for the game.
don't really need the manual anyway.

and @ Alnilam, that is not the point, the point is that WE shouldn't have been allowed to play these games in the past either, I even remember my dad taking me back with Mortal combat on for the SNES into a store and making a fuss why I was sold it in the first place.

I still did have other violent and adult games/films, but my point is, that these days games have got very good indications on the back of the cover explaining the content, and also as previously said, XBOX 360 has the facility to download the demo of it, before forking out the dosh for a game that isn't to your liking.

Thanks a mil Gilgamesh. Will pm you now. He picked it up without knowing about it so he prob wasnt even aware there was a demo. Also I dont think he has ever plugged his broadband connection into his 360 anyway. lol

No this is precisely the point, we were allowed to play these games as kids and I'm no mad serial killer these days. There is no evidence to suggest a link between simulated violence and actual violence. In fact I think a game like COD2 gives a chance to experience something that was truly horrific in human history to everyone who doesn't have the benefit of being able to talk to a war veteran about the "glory" of war.

Your point is hypocritical and as I'm sure your aware the ratings on games are recomendations, I was the one wondering why they hadn't tried the demo but as was explained, he has not connected to live.

I don't think COD2 is that bad for a 10 year old, personally I wouldn't really have a problem with that so much, but Condemned is a different game altogether. I know adults that are disturbed by it and don't feel comfortable playing it, let alone 10 year olds. But fair play that he said it to his mam though, my point was more about the brother (ie didn't he say something at the time, like maybe this isn't the best game to get).

You make a good point about COD2, Alnilam. I remember reading something a while back where they quizzed some teens/kids, and a lot of knowledge about WW2 they had seemed to come from games like COD and MOH. It gives a very different view on history, it's one thing to read about it in books, but reliving some of it (virtually, of course) can be really interesting and could be a really good learning experience.

Well how was his brother to know. Previous 18's games havent been a problem for him so he didnt know any better with this one. His brother has his own house and doesnt even play a 360. I doubt he even knew what kind of game Condemned was. Just another 18's game to him which his brother wanted
