Formating FAT 32 - Ive forgotten

    Hi,

    Im getting in an 80 gb drive one of the days and I want to format it on my 98 machine but Ive forgotten how to do it.. I have a removeable rack so I can put it into that, Im just afraid ill format a drive already in the computer and ill loose the stuff i want to copy onto this new one.. so could anybody "talk" me thru how its done..
    Im gonna put xp onto the machine when all this backing up is done,but for now Im stuck with 98..

    After you physically install the new hard-disk into the '98 machine then you can use the Windows XP CD to format the new hard-disk to FAT32 (I think).

    The Windows XP CD runs from start-up and has it's own program for the creation of partitions and the formatting of disks. However, you might have to change a setting in the BIOS to instruct the computer to load from the CD-Drive first.
