iTunes Store music is in the AAC format. It is locked with Digital Rights Management (DRM), and can only be played either on the computer or on the iPod.

^ that's the official version. There are, of course, ways around it.
...For now, all I could say is: google.

There are several ways to do it. Direct (defeat DRM), and indirect.
It's best I only mention indirect for reasons.

It's awkward but effective, and constitutes Fari Use:
    Download the song from iTunes/Store
    Burn to CD
Rip from CD (Using ex: CDEx - free) as MP3
That MP3 should be free of any restrictions/DRM - and could be copied and played without issue on another MP3 player.
