HD Data Recovery

While reinstalling windows XP I started to format the wrong drive. I noticed that it was the wrong drive and unplugged it. When I powered back up the drive had no partiton on it. I tried a few data recovery programmes (recover my data, can't remeber the other names) these couldn't read the drive. I quick formatted the drive.

The drive was an 80GB IDE with about 60GB of data on it. I would really like to recover as much as possible from it.

What are my chances of recovering the data that was on this drive. I imagine I'll need another drive to back copy files over to, where in Dublin is a good place to buy a new harddrive. Is SATA2 backwards compatable with SATA.

I can sort it out for you without it costing an arm and a leg. Generally I recover the data to another drive. Test the source, and restore back. But its entirely up to you.

Drop me a PM if you want to to look at it for you.

SATA 2 drives will work with SATA fine. You can pickup a drive at www.marx-computers.com or It Direct on parliment street near temple bar.
