    Why is it only drug dealers and software developers call their clients 'users'?

    Just pondering this and would like to hear some theories on this as its bugging me???

    I think there definitely is a direct correlation between the fall in spirograph and the rise in criminal activity....

    I think it is just down to the English language & being gramatically correct.....in most other situations there is a more discriptive word to use, such as consumer, which is considered much better English......not sure how that came about if that is what you are meaning.....

    A user of bacon? It's terrible grammer, you get nutrition from bacon & to do so you have to ingest it.....a gun user? You shoot a gun, you don't use it....."use" infers you (& plural), personally, get something from the item....rather than giving someone else a bullet or a bomb.....of course there are always exceptions to any rule.....but I think that is generally how it works.....:)

    I don't know any drug dealers who call the people they sell to "users" it's usual;ly customers or clients depending on what drug your selling and how much of a social standing you have.

    McDonalds call their customers "Users" too. It was mentioned in the movie/documentary, Supersize Me.
