Hi i am 23 and currently working as a level 1 helpdesk agent after graduating from college in May.
I applied to a couple of level 2 roles this week off irishjobs.ie and have had two responces. I got kind of over the phone interviews which i managed as best as i could because i had exagarated slightly in my CV. Basically i said i carried out a lot of Level 2 work without actually being on the books as a level 2.
Anyway i had two phone interviews yesterday and Monday and both times the interviewers finished the calls by saying they would pass my CV onto their client.
What i want to know, is this their way of dismissing me? I dont paticulary like phone interviews but i do very well in a regular one but i get the feeling they are after dropping me from the application list as i still have not heard back off Monday's guy.
    Canyone offer any advice??

    Cheers all! ;)

If they said, "We'll pass it onto our client", then they're probably recruiters, not actual companies. In this case, you're not really getting a phone interview, more of a friendly chat to make sure that you do know what you know, and you reasonably fit the spec as asked for by the client.

I've no doubt that they actually do pass your CV on to the employer, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If you don't hear back from them, don't bother following up. The employer will still reject some CVs from the recruiter, and most recruiters won't waste their time contacting anyone who doesn't even make the interview stage.

No matter what kind of jobs are pending or whatever, continue sending your CV out until you get an actual rock-solid job offer that you're happy with.

You hear back about 2 out 10 times from agencies. They advertise and interview a lot for jobs that aren't there so that they have a big portfolio of people on their books to show employers. Also the same job are advertised and interviewed for by more than one agency. In one case I had 6 agencies contact me about the one job, each insisted it was a different job, but I knew from the spec it wasn't.

My advice expect nothing back and you'll stop worrying about it. If someones interested they'll get back to you for sure. Unless you are looking to improve your interview skills. In which case hound them for feedback.

I'd advise against talking up your CV. As a rule. That kinda bluffing works on TV but can go badly wrong in real life. Obviously some chancers get away with it.
